Godolphin’s Real World takes streak to five

There was no rust to brush off for Godolphin homebred Real World (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) Friday night in the G2 Zabeel Mile when the 2.5l victory took the 5-year-old entire to five-straight victories.

Victories during that streak have come from 1600 metres to 2000 metres and he returned to that 1600-metre distance to make his first run since a win in the G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein in October. Racing just off the lead, the winner coasted down the rail with just under 400 metres to go and the race was over from there with Alfareeq (Ire) the second half of the Dark Angel (Ire) exacta.

Real World is one of two stakes winners for Nafura (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), whose three Group-winning siblings include G3 Queen’s Cup second and G1 Melbourne Cup runner Secret Number (GB) (Raven’s Pass {USA}). Another of Nafura’s siblings is former Australian broodmare Slovakia (USA) (Danzig {USA}), who produced G2 Sandown Guineas winner Tatra (Hussonet {USA}).

Shahama asserts dominance in UAE 1000 Guineas

SF Bloodstock-bred Shahama (USA) (Munnings {USA}) had given indications in her first two starts that she may be the best 3-year-old filly in Dubai and proved that this week with an easy classic victory in the Listed UAE 1000 Guineas by 3.75l.

Stretching to 1600 metres for the first time, Shahama was last early but quickly decided the pace was too slow and moved up to push the leader. There was no doubt Adrie de Vries was confident in his mount when he barely moved until the final 200 metres as she pulled away by 3.75l to take her combined margin of victory between her three starts to 15.25l.

Shahama became the fourth stakes winner of 2022 for Munnings (USA), the best of any Northern Hemisphere stallion.

She is the third stakes winner for Private Feeling (USA) (Belong To Me {USA}), who also produced dual Champion and one-time shuttle stallion Lookin At Lucky (USA) and multiple-Graded stakes winner Kensei (USA) (Mr. Greeley {USA}). This is also the family of 2006 US Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Wait A While (USA) (Maria’s Mon {USA}).

Siskany 220th stakes winner for Dubawi

Siskany (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) had shown to be stakes class in England with multiple placings but he took it to another level in his first start in Dubai with a runaway 5.5l victory in the Listed Al Khail Trophy to give Dubawi (Ire) his 220th worldwide stakes winner. Dubawi has had 36 stakes winners alone in the U.A.E.

It looked like the winner may be in some trouble half way around the turn but that didn’t last long when he slipped through a hole on the rail and was gone. Alignak (GB) (Sea The Moon {Ger}) closed late to take second with Volcanic Sky (GB) (Street Cry {Ire}) relegated to third near the line.

The only runner out of a half-sister to three stakes winners, Siskany’s family includes G2 Todman S. winner Aylmerton, who stands at Woodpark Stud in New South Wales. His dam Aloona (USA) (Smart Strike {Can}) also produced Group 3-placed Arnaqueur (Astern), who is in training with Jean Dubois. The mare’s final foal is a yearling filly by Snitzel.
