In the build up to the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, we have picked out three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.
A hat-trick of wins in Singapore by a half brother to an All Too Hard colt kicks off our selections, while the full brother of a Capitalist filly has been mixing well in very impressive company for her update. And a Singapore win on Saturday gives a Spieth (NZ) colt a bit of a boost for next weekend.
Lot 138 - All Too Hard x Pentasia (Pentire {GB}), colt - On account of Kirk’s Bridge Farm
The timing of this colt’s half-brother King Arthur’s (I Am Invincible) form turnaround could hardly be better with the Singapore-based runner winning his last three races, including two this year. Since the move to Singapore last April with Fortuna NZ Racing, King Arthur has won four and placed in five of his total 12 runs and is now under the guidance of Donna Logan.
Their dam Pentasia, out of Ecstasia (Jpn) (Singspiel {Ire}) did also string three in a row together in her racing career, culminating with her biggest win, in a Listed race. Her last race was her only at Group 3 level.
The family was well performed in Japan, with Pentasia’s grandam, Titled (NZ) (Rainbow Quest {USA}) producing the Champion 2-year-old filly in Japan, dual Group-1 winning Major Emblem (Jpn) (Daiwa Major {Jpn}) .

Lot 164 - Capitalist x Princess Layla (Fastnet Rock), filly - On account of Willow Park Stud
This filly’s full brother Wealthy Investor (Capitalist) has been mixing in very good company, and doing a good job of it, placing in his first two starts, including the R. Listed Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic and just out of the placings in his third, with those races including leading 2-year-olds Russian Conquest (Russian Revolution), Miss Hellfire (Hellbent), Snitcat (Snitzel) and Soaring Ambition (Not A Single Doubt).
Their half-sister, Princess Amira (Written Tycoon), also put in a good show for second just over a week ago at Wyong.
Winners also have come in recent times from deeper in the family. Third dam, Zippast (Lord Seymour {Ire}) has in her line out of the Testa Rossa mare Wings Of Alice the recent back-to-back Listed winner in South Australia, Outlaws Revenge (Reward For Effort), and Violet (Mint Lane) winning two in Malaysia since mid-November, including a Listed race.

Lot 330 - Spieth (NZ) x Verkko (Flying Spur), colt - On account of Edinglassie Stud
From a winning family, 2022 has been good for this colt from Verkko with the most recent update coming just a week out from his sale with half-brother Karisto (Written Tycoon) winning in Singapore on Saturday for owners the China Horse Club.
And the ever-consistent half-brother Master Jamie (Poet’s Voice {GB}) who has been in the money for 25 of his 35 starts, putting his 15th win on the board at Rockhampton recently. Those wins have come from 1000 metres to 1400 metres. He has raced at all levels to Group 1.
Other half-siblings, all winners, include Cartland (Written Tycoon), True Joy (Econsul), and Boys Day Out (Domesday).
Dam Verkko is a half to Zodiac Rule (Zoffany {Ire}) a Group 2 winner and Almighty Girl (Beneteau) a Group 3 winner.
