Pedigree Boosters - Inglis Classic Yearling Sale

3 min read

In the build up to the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, we have picked out three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.

The three selections in this edition include a Trapeze Artist colt that is closely related to Amarelinha (NZ) (Savabeel), an Invader colt with 2-year-old form on his page and a Saxon Warrior (Jpn) colt with a number of recent winners in his immediate family.

Lot 261 – Trapeze Artist x Southern Venture (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), colt - On account of Widden Stud

This colt’s dam is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Metal Bender (Danasinga), and she’s also a half-sister to both the dam of the New Zealand star filly Amarelinha and the dam of dual Group 3 winner Missybeel (NZ) (Savabeel).

Since the release of the Inglis Classic Sale catalogue, Amarelinha was fourth in an Auckland Group 2, adding to her local riches and a very consistent record. However, the upgrades don’t stop there because a Pierro half-brother to this colt, the former Gerald Ryan charge Commander’s Watch, has won a pair of races in North Queensland through two starts in January, while half-sister How Sweet It Is (Foxwedge) is now the dam of January’s Rosehill 2-year-old winner Sweet Ride (Deep Field).

Lot 451 – Invader x Celtic Sea (Fastnet Rock), colt - On account of Bell River Thoroughbreds

This family is showing plenty of 2-year-old form around its page, with Celtic Sea, the dam of this colt, a juvenile Sydney placegetter and half-sister to Tony Nicconi (Nicconi), who was a winner at two ahead of his victory in the G3 Vain S. and his third in the G3 Blue Sapphire S.

Upgrading this page since the catalogue’s release is Celtic Vader (Invader), a full brother to this colt who won a 2-year-old event at Morphettville in mid-December before a third on Boxing Day in a similar juvenile’s race at the same track.

Lot 712 – Saxon Warrior (Jpn) x Romance Writer (NZ) (One Cool Cat {USA}), colt - On account of Davali Thoroughbreds

This page has plenty of international flair through Saxon Warrior (Jpn) while second dam Tricia Ann (NZ) was a well-known producer and three-quarter sister to no less than Grosvenor (NZ) and National Gallery (NZ), plus three other stakes winners.

Since catalogue release, this colt’s page has been boosted by his half-brother Barellan Bandit (Declaration Of War {USA}) who, in the hands of Scone trainer John Ramsey, was third at his home track in mid-December before a pair of wins at Wyong and Tamworth through January. Close relatives Logan Street Lion (Fastnet Rock) and Straight Arron (Fastnet Rock) were also winners last month at Sandown.
