Pedigree Boosters - Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale

3 min read

In the build up to the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, we have picked out three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.

Today, we look at a filly by The Autumn Sun filly from a regal Japanese family, a Russian Revolution colt whose extended family have been busy winning stakes races, and a Dissident colt with some recent updates.

Lot 30 - The Autumn Sun x La Velata (Jpn) (Zenno Rob Roy {Jpn}), filly - On account of Kulani Park

Japanese pedigrees are very much in the spotlight at the moment and this filly is out of a mare who was imported into Australia by Arrowfield Stud. She is out of American Grade 2 winner Veil Of Avalon (USA) (Thunder Gulch {USA}), who is a half-sister to none other than the legendary Deep Impact (Jpn). Veil Of Avalon has produced two Japanese stakes winners.

The 'update' to the pedigree came on Friday when Kahuka, this The Autumn Sun filly's half-brother by Lord Kanaloa (Jpn), broke his maiden for trainer Eric Musgrove at Sale. Another family member, Valcos (Jpn) (Novellist {Jpn}), was recently fourth in a Japanese Group 3 race. He is out of a half-sister to Deep Impact and Veil Of Avalon.

Lot 35 - Russian Revolution x Laetitia (Woodman {USA}), colt - On account of Sledmere Stud

Russian Revolution has emerged as the leading first-season sire and this colt is sure to command attention given he is also a half-brother to Group 3 winner and sire Stryker as well as stakes-placed trio Exceed And Exalt (Exceed And Excel), Puerto Banus (Encosta De Lago) and Seeking Attention (Exceed And Excel), who herself is the dam of Listed winner Buckinghampshire (Lonhro).

Indeed there is only one dam on the page, but if you go back a couple of generations further you will find recent stakes winners Enthaar (Written Tycoon) and Skelm (Animal Kingdom {USA}) as well as recent stakes-performed trio Esta La Roca (NZ) (El Roca), Pascero (Pierro) and Rampant Lion (Frankel {GB}).

Lot 507 - Dissident x Exabelle (Exceed And Excel), filly - On account of Sledmere Stud

This Dissident filly's sister Yes Baby Yes acquitted herself well in stakes company this week, finishing third in the G3 Vamos S. at Launceston. She is already a multiple Group 2 winner. Their half-sister No Baby No (Shooting To Win) was also recently placed at Bendigo.

Further back on the page is the stakes-performed Fixated (Hinchinbrook), who won a recent race at Donald. The horse is out of Group 1 winner Gaze (NZ) (Cape Cross {Ire}) and is a half-brother to Group 3 winner Ready To Attack (More Than Ready {USA}), This filly's third dam, Eye Full (NZ) (Palatable {USA}) was a Group 3 winner in New Zealand.
