Group 3 winner Barbaric will become just the third son of I Am Invincible to stand in Queensland in 2022 after a deal was brokered for the well-related stallion to take up residence at the Kruger family's Lyndhurst Stud.

A one-time $900,000 yearling bred by a partnership of Segenhoe Stud and Gerry Harvey, Barbaric won two of his five starts, with his marquee victory coming in the G3 Black Opal S.

He was trained by Peter and Paul Snowden and raced in the colours of China Horse Club, who came together with Newgate Bloodstock and WinStar to buy him from the Segenhoe draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is out of Mimi Lebrock (Show A Heart), the multiple Group winner and R. Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner who has produced five winners, as well as the G3 Gimcrack S. placegetter Diddles (Snitzel), who sold for $1 million as a broodmare prospect last year.

The regally bred stallion takes up residence alongside Better Than Ready, who has been a terrific success for Lyndhurst, as well as Group 1-producer Rothesay and Hidden Dragon.

Lyndhurst’s Jeff Kruger said the opportunity to stand a son of I Am Invincible with such impeccable credentials was too good to resist.

"It didn’t take too much thought! He’s a Group-winning 2-year-old, a son of I Am Invincible from a multiple stakes-winning Magic Millions winner. Being a $900,000 yearling, he has the looks and pedigree, and is blessed with a wonderful temperament,” Kruger said.

Barbaric will enjoy the support of his existing ownership group, headed by Newgate.

“I strongly believe Barbaric was the standout yearling at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale of his year,” said Newgate’s Managing Director Henry Field.

“In fact, we had never paid more for a yearling since starting our colts partnership. He was a horse with really good talent that we didn’t get to see the best of. However, he will certainly get his opportunity at stud being managed by the Kruger family who have launched so many excellent sires in Queensland during its long history.”

Barbaric will start off at a fee of $8800 (inc GST) in 2022, with lifetime breeding rights available.

He joins Aquis pair Santos and Kobayashi as sons of Yarraman Park 's powerhouse I Am Invincible to stand in Queensland.

With I Am Invincible currently in a position to claim his first Australian Champion Sires' title, it is a sireline which is emerging across Australia through the likes of Brazen Beau, Hellbent and Overshare.

I Am Invincible's multiple Group 1-winning son, Home Affairs, is considered one of the most valuable colts in the country, and is destined to compete at Royal Ascot with a view to him being a headline act at Coolmore in time.
