Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
For Saturday’s selections it is first to Flemington where we’re looking at a competitive Capitalist filly who if she is to behave will be a threat, then to Rosehill and a Zoustar filly who has liked the wet in the past before we head back to Flemington for the return of a classy Snitzel colt.
Flemington, Race 1, 12.35pm AEDT, TBV Thoroughbred Breeders' S., $200,000, 1200m
Blonde Venture, 2-year-old filly (Capitalist x Blonde Intuition {Redoute’s Choice})
There’s not much love for the $200,000 Magic Millions graduate, despite her winning the Launceston instalment of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, a title she shares with the highly rated Jaguar Stone (Spieth {NZ}) after a dead heat in that race last month. It was the well-bred first foal of Blonde Intuition’s second start, her debut not going to plan when she bucked at the start to still beat a couple home. Lachlan Neindorf retains the ride and will go from the inside gate.
Her grandam Hanky Panky (Anabaa {USA}) is a half-sister to the Champion sire Not A Single Doubt.

Rosehill, Race 2, 12.55pm AEDT, Cellarabrations G3 Magic Night S., $175,000, 1200m
Celestial Spirit, 2-year-old filly (Zoustar x Positive Problems {Sebring})
Few in this race for 2-year-olds have raced on a track rated as Heavy as it is almost certain to be at Rosehill and the $300,000 Magic Millions graduate, Celestial Spirit, has her one win from two starts on a Heavy 9.

She is the first foal from Group 3-placed mare Positive Problems who won six races and is a full sister to Sebring Dream who was placed at Group 2 level.
Looking Back
Our Friday selections gave us a mixed bag, opening with a win for Extreme Choice colt Super Extreme, then a last placing at Cranbourne for New York Rose (Redoute's Choice). And to close it was a scratching for Gulf of Odessa (Sebring).
