Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
For Sunday's selections we first look to two Not A Single Doubts at Scone and then a Lonhro filly in a field full of first-starters on the Sunshine Coast.
Scone, Race 1, 12.55pm AEDT, Emirates Park 2YO Open Showcase H., $30,000, 1000m
Voldemort, 2-year-old colt (Not A Single Doubt x Devious Maid {Sebring})
A $340,000 yearling, Voldemort showed sharp improvement in his trials this year after being restrained in his first and then running a handy second at his latest just over a week ago.
He was purchased at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and is the second foal of Devious Maid, the first Devious Ruler (American Pharoah {USA}) having had just the one start last Spring.

Fashion Fort, 3-year-old gelding (Not A Single Doubt x Fashion {Encosta De Lago})
Well trialled with four hitouts to his name this year, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Fashion Fort, a $200,000 Inglis Easter Sale graduate from a stakes-placed and Group 2-performed mare, will jump from an inside barrier to lift his chances on debut.

Half-siblings Hippogriff and Rayaheen, both by Redoute’s Choice, and Minted (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) all have been winners. His dam, Fashion is a half to True Jewels (Brief Truce {USA}) the G1 Blue Diamond winner.
Sunshine Coast, Race 1, 2pm AEDT (1pm local), Happy 80th Maxine Long QTIS 2YO Mdn H., $26,000, 1000m
Luna Rosa, 2-year-old filly (Lonhro x Lunar Rose Above {Sepoy})
In a race of all first-time starters, we look to one that has won a trial at very least, and Luna Rosa is one of three, and the most recent to fit that bill, with a trial win at the Sunshine Coast earlier this month.

She was a $60,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast graduate, from the Eureka Stud draft and is the first foal of Lunar Rose Above who is from the same family as Champion 3-Year-Old filly Samantha Miss (Redoute’s Choice) and Miss Fabulass (Frankel {GB}).
Looking Back
