Mapperley Stud - Broodmare Manager

A real opportunity for someone who wants to be a part of an up-and-coming stud that is starting to hit its straps! Mapperley is situated on 600 acres of beautiful rolling country in Matamata, and is committed to continuing their ascent into becoming one of the country’s leading thoroughbred studs.

We require an experienced Broodmare Manager to join our dynamic team. You will be a motivated and high-achieving individual who is willing to work closely with the management team as we move into an exciting stage of the stud’s development.

The successful applicant will require the following skills and experience:

• Extensive experience on a large thoroughbred breeding operation

• Strong animal husbandry skills especially broodmares and foals

• Able to manage the crush at scanning time along with accurate record keeping

• Competent in teasing mares and keeping a teasing book for records

• Ability to liaise with specialists such as veterinarians and farriers

• Administration and coordination of medications and vaccines

• Foaling down and postpartum care

• Ability to assist in the covering shed during the breeding season

• Excellent organisational and time management skills

• Brilliant communication skills along with the ability to work independently and part of a team

• Full Driver's Licence

TYREEL STUD - FOALING ATTENDANT/YEARLING ASSISTANT

Tyreel Stud is a boutique thoroughbred breeding operation located in the Hawkesbury Valley district of Sydney and we are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our dynamic team as a Foaling Attendant and Yearling Assistant to play a key role in Tyreel Stud’s future progress.

The successful candidate would display a keen interest in all areas of thoroughbred stud work with an emphasis on the care and wellbeing of all horses. This position is available for someone who has had previous foaling and yearling experience.

This position may suit someone who has not had the opportunity to be in a managerial position but would like to have the opportunity to grow into the position of Yearling Manager.

There is a large emphasis on this role to have had previous experience with foaling and yearling work.

You will have the opportunity to work with some quality stock and people. This position is available to start during May or June.

The role will include:

• Yearling sales preparation and attendance at sales

• Broodmares

• Foaling and foal growth, development and handling

• Weaning

• General farm maintenance
