Narrung Stud Dispersal

Sponsored by
6 min read
One of South Australia's most historic thoroughbred properties, Narrung Stud has come on the market, incurring the dispersal of Ken and Helen Smith's racing and breeding stock via the online platform, Bloodstockauction.com. Having carefully crafted a legacy over many years, here we preview some of the many exciting lots of offer.

The final chapter of a wonderful contribution to South Australian racing and breeding is about to close.

Ken and Helen Smith will be offering a complete dispersal of their bloodstock interests via online auction website Bloodstockauction.com, with the catalogue going live on Thursday, May 26, 2022 and the auction concluding on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

The Exalted prefix of Ken and Helen Smith’s stock can be traced back to the stallion Exalt, that featured in the breeding of their foundation mare and G3 Auraria Stakes winner Alleged Lady.

She in turn went on to be the dam or grandam of no less than nine stakes-performed Exalteds, including the 2006 Adelaide Cup winner Exalted Time.

The Exalted family is a prolific source of winners, with four generations producing 79 runners for 58 individual winners (73.4 per cent) of 227 races.

The Final Countdown commences at 7pm AEST on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Make sure you visit bloodstockauction.com or call them today on 1300 849 349 to register as a member, so you can participate in this historic sale.

Lot 4 - Exalted Ruth (Good Journey {USA} x Exalted Dream {Blevic})

Exalted Ruth is a 6-year-old Class 4 Mare by Good Journey (USA). She is out of the three-time winning mare Exalted Dream, by Blevic, who is a sister to Listed winner Exalted Lad and a half-sister to Group 1 winner Exalted Time, Group 3 winner Exalted Miss and stakes-placed Exalted Privilege.

She has had four wins and 14 placings in her racing career from just 38 race starts and is a last-start winner at Strathalbyn in a BM62 over 2050 metres on May 15, 2022.

Tough, sound and ready to race on following a win at her last start.

A four-time winning, middle-distance daughter of Good Journey with $165,000 in the bank and more to come. Carrying a rating that has risen to OR67 and a winter campaign with future prizemoney and more wins is almost certainly set in stone.

Lot 18 - Exalted Mem (Good Journey {USA} x Exalted Keetah {Blevic})

Exalted Mem is an unraced 3-year-old Filly by Good Journey (USA). She is out of the stakes-winning mare Exalted Keetah, by Blevic, winner of three races and $188,635 in prizemoney including the Listed VRC Red Roses S. and from a family that includes G1 SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Exalted Time, and Group 3 winners Alleged Lady, Exalted Miss and Exalted Ego.

A duplication of the great mare Special in any pedigree is appealing, but, given that Exalted Mem is from a stakes-winning Blevic mare in Exalted Keetah, here is the opportunity to capitalise on a cross that has produced 16 runners for two stakes performers in Go The Journey and Our Paradigm.

Exalted Mem is a flashy chestnut mare with an amazing temperament and is very racey. She has had all of her basic education done properly and is ready to become someone’s dream racehorse. She has everything going for her and will always have good residual value too.

Lot 19 - Exalted Kate (Valentia x Exalted Beauty {Blevic})

Exalted Kate is an unraced 3-year-old Filly by Valentia (AUS). She is out of the four-time winning mare Exalted Beauty, by Blevic, who is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Listed winners Exalted Lad and Exalted Lightning.

From a family that includes G1 SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Exalted Time, and Group 3 winners Alleged Lady, Exalted Miss and Exalted Ego.

The best-looking filly in the draft, this gorgeous 3-year-old filly is by a rising star in the South Australian stallion ranks in Valentia, who has already produced the Group 1-performed Fayerra and the multiple stakes-performed Smokin Val and this filly fits that same mould as a type. Attractive, strong, correct and athletic. Furthermore, she is from a Blevic mare, much the same as Split Lip, Alcopop and Phelan Ready.

Exalted Kate is a very attractive filly that in the flesh oozes class and has real presence. She is put together beautifully with balance and athleticism. She is broken and has had her basic education through the barriers, she has shown signs that she will also get over ground.

Lot 13 - Meadows Young Buck (Wanted x Polka Dot {Kingston Rule {USA}})

Meadows Young Buck is a 5-year-old Class 4 Gelding by Wanted (AUS). He is out of the two-time winning mare Polka Dot, by Kingston Rule (USA), who is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Magnetic, and from a family that includes US stakes winners Morluc, Green Vegas and Flashing Eyes.

He has had four wins and five placings in his racing career to date, last racing at Gawler on April 25, 2021.

Meadows Young Buck is a beautiful liver chestnut that is tough, sound and durable. This 5-year-old gelding has been campaigned solidly throughout the last few seasons and has achieved a peak OR65. The ability is there, but a tough campaign in the last six months has seen that rating fall to OR59 and gives the future purchaser every opportunity to capitalise on some off season restricted rating band to utilise claims or even consider a trip north for the Darwin carnival.

Last raced on April 25th in light work and ready to go on with.

Lot 2 - Exalted Gold (Hussonet {USA} x Exalted Keetah {Blevic})

Exalted Gold is an eight-time race-winning 7-year-old mare by Hussonet (USA). She is out of the stakes-winning mare Exalted Keetah, by Blevic. Winner of three races (1000 to 1200 metres) and $188,635 in prizemoney, including the Listed VRC Red Roses S., and from a family that includes G1 SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Exalted Time, and Group 3 winners Alleged Lady, Exalted Miss and Exalted Ego.

She has had eight wins and 15 placings in her racing career, last racing at Bordertown on December 12, 2021.

Genuine racing or breeding proposition.

A winner of eight of her 59 starts and whose best form has been right in the money in metropolitan racing off a lowly OR57.

That said, if you are looking to breed, daughters of Hussonet have produced 94 Stakes winners and 66 Group winners that includes Extreme Choice, King's Legacy, Rothfire and many, many more. Furthermore, this page will pedigree up nicely for a commercial breeder, looking for a commercial return; A multiple winning, city-performed daughter of Hussonet from a stakes-winning mare that has progeny still to race for you.

Lot 27 - Ambidexter x Exalted Blonde (Face Value) '21 (filly)
