Managing part-owner Wylie Dalziel, who secured Boogie Dancer for $50,000 at last year's Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, told RSN that the Peter Moody-trained juvenile will now be sent for a freshen-up at Lauriston Park before resuming in September’s G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude.

Caulfield Guineas on the cards

Jerome Hunter isn’t ruling out the potential of keeping G3 Vain S.-bound gelding Thron Bone (Thronum) in work until October’s G1 Caulfield Guineas.

Hunter remains keen to give his galloper every chance at Group 1 glory over a mile despite telling RSN that Thron Bone’s breeding suggests he wouldn’t get out beyond 1200 metres.

Snowden earmarks Eagle

Paul Snowden has earmarked G3 Bletchingly S. hero King Of Sparta (I Am Invincible) as a genuine Golden Eagle contender.

While Snowden believes the lucrative 1500-metre feature is right up his galloper's alley, he does hold some fears about the potential of a wet surface at Rosehill, which may see King Of Sparta showcased in Melbourne throughout the spring carnival.

Price and Kent Jnr eye Guineas glory

Exciting colts Jacquinot (Rubick) and Maximillius (Written Tycoon) could headline Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr’s three-pronged G1 Caulfield Guineas attack.

Kent Jnr, who hadn't joined Price in partnership when Mighty Boss (Not A Single Doubt) caused a boilover in the 2017 edition, said the Caulfield Guineas is Maximillius’ main aim this spring while Jacquinot will plot a path to the mile feature via the G1 Golden Rose.

Lonhro colt Amenable, who saluted on debut at Sandown in March, is another Price and Kent Jnr-trained galloper who will be aimed up at the Guineas.

Dunn to take out dual license

Dylan Dunn will become Victoria’s latest dual license holder, with the 27-year-old hoop to join the training ranks later this year.

The son of Champion hoop Dwayne Dunn hasn’t ridden since last October due to a troublesome ankle.

Dunn remains motivated to return to the saddle and ride for the next couple of years before transitioning into full-time training.

Merchant Navy colt salutes

Coolmore Stud stallion Merchant Navy recorded his seventh winner via the debut success of Diana’s Affair at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

The Kelly Schweida-trained colt went home the better of race favourite Big Sky Country (Spirit Of Boom) and Sir Leonidas (Nostradamus) in the 1200-metre maiden event. Merchant Navy, a dual hemisphere Group 1-winning son of Fastnet Rock, is currently 11th on the first-season sires’ standings.

Another winner for young stallion Belardo

Belardo (Ire) brought up his 11th winner of the season by the way of Hennessy Lad’s (NZ) debut victory at Sale on Sunday.

The Peter Moody-trained galloper, who is owned by Wylie Dalziel Racing, narrowly denied Ivan’s Hero (Holler) in the 1200-metre contest.

Belardo is currently 33rd on the Australian second-season sires’ standings.
