Listed Goldmarket H., $150,000, 1200m

After a host of placed efforts at stakes level, the Tony Gollan-trained Garibaldi (I Am Invincible) finally got his head in front in the Listed Goldmarket H. at the Gold Coast.

Garibaldi was purchased by his trainer, Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA) and Aquis Farm at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in 2018 for $475,000, making him the second-highest priced lot of the sale that year.

The gelding is one of three winners out of the winning Exceed And Excel mare Sonnenblume and she is herself a daughter of G1 Coolmore Classic winner Shindig (NZ) (Straight Strike {USA}). Shindig’s progeny is headed by G1 CF Orr S. winner Shinzig (Danehill {USA}) and Listed winner Strada (Danehill {USA}).

Meanwhile, one of Shindig’s winning daughters, Fiammarosa (Danehill {USA}), produced unplaced mare Rosa Perlato (Encosta De Lago) and she is the dam of Group 2 winner Hawkshot (Fiorente {Ire}) and Listed scorer Power Scheme (Firorente).

In winning the Listed race, Garibaldi also provided last season’s Champion Sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) with his 81st stakes winner.
