Listed Balaklava Cup, $107,250, 1600m

In winning the Listed Balaklava Cup, the Will Clarken-trained Noname Lane provided his Rosemont Stud-based sire Shamus Award with his 20th stakes winner.

Bred by Rosemont Stud, the 6-year-old gelding is out of six-time winning Show A Heart mare Sovereign Charm, whose four winners also include Noname Lane’s three-time Group 3-winning sister Sovereign Award.

Further back this is the same family as Listed winner Potential (Southern Appeal {USA}) and she is herself a half-sister to Listed-placed mare Talk To Angels (Don’t Say Halo {USA}) - the dam of 2001 Listed WATC Gimcrack S. winner Magic Heaven (Magic Ring {Ire}).

Noname Lane and Sovereign Award are two of 11 winners bred on the Shamus Award / Show A Heart cross and they also include a further stakes winner in Listed scorer Enchanted Heart.
