Trilogy Racing made headlines last week when it was announced that they had purchased Blue Gum Farm from Philip and Patti Campbell, and on Wednesday they continued to spend money on females to bolster their broodmare band with Great News (Uncle Mo {USA}) and Kemeri (Denman) becoming the latest additions to join that burgeoning group of mares after they were purchased for $230,000 and $205,000 respectively via the Inglis Digital September (Late) Online Sale.
Great News, a Group 3-placed daughter of Coolmore America’s stallion Uncle Mo (USA), was offered by Mark Edward Waugh and she is out of twice-raced Wonderful News (Clang), who is herself a half-sister to Listed winner Oxford Poet (Dylan Thomas {Ire}).

Meanwhile, Kemeri was offered in foal to Coolmore Stud’s So You Think (NZ) and she is out of multiple Listed winner St Trinians (Black Hawk {GB}), making her a half-sister to Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed mare Affair To Remember (Toronado {Ire}) and stakes-placed Teofilo (Ire) mare Bahamas, who produced Group 3 winner Senor Toba (Toronado {Ire}) and Listed winner Berkeley Square (Territories {Ire}).
The mare was purchased by Stirling Park Bloodstock via the Inglis Digital February (Late) Sale in 2022 for $2500 and was then acquired privately by Jimmy Unwala of Avesta Bloodstock. It proved to be a nice touch with Affair To Remember upgrading the page with her victory in the G2 Matriarch S.

“Shortly after that sale Jack Schaeche, who does a lot of form work and analysis for Avesta, rang me and said somebody had bought this mare very cheap, that she had a young unraced half-sister called Affair To Remember who he thought was a stakes horse in the making and that I should consider buying her. I made a private offer, bought her for more than the buyer had paid for her online and since then, the family has just exploded,’’ Unwala said.
“Today (Wednesday) is the perfect result because everyone along the way walks away happy – the initial buyer got more for the mare than he paid, I’ve got more for the mare than I paid and now the new buyer has themselves a beautiful broodmare in foal to a quality stallion and it’s a family that is so current.’’
Unwala admitted he was reluctant to sell Kemeri but said he ultimately couldn’t resist, given the recent strength of the Inglis Digital market.

“It’s just so strong with Inglis Digital, the past couple of sales in particular there have been buyers from everywhere getting involved so we thought it might be the right time to get her on the market and get a nice price for her, which we did,’’ Unwala said.
Meanwhile, Trilogy’s Sean Dingwall said they would make a call for the mare’s 2022 cover after she had foaled down.
“We bought her based on her very current page, plus the fact she’s a lovely type of mare and we thought with the So You Think pregnancy she would be a nice mare for the future for us,’’ Dingwall said.

“She’ll stay at Middlebrook Valley Lodge where she is now and foal down – which will be a bit of a later foal – and then we’ll make a call as to who she visits next.’’
Meanwhile, Chicquita (Commands), whose Harry Angel (Ire) yearling made $460,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale earlier this year, was the second highest-priced lot of the afternoon after she sold to Noel and Caroline Hassell of Shadowbrook Bloodstock for $180,000 and they revealed she was now set for a date with Coolmore’s brightest young star Home Affairs.
Offered by Torryburn Stud, as agent for the Late Alan Osburg, the daughter of Commands was offered with a colt by Arrowfield Stud shuttler Maurice (Jpn) at foot.

A winner at 1100 metres, Chicquita is out of G2 Tea Rose S. scorer Prisoner Of Love (Canny Lad) and she is a half-sister to G2 Expressway S. winner Sportsman (Supremo {USA}) and Group 3 scorer King Of Prussia (Anabaa {USA}).
“We were looking for one more mare, the Maurice foal had a fair bit of appeal and she’s a big, roomy mare with a nice page so we thought we’d have a go,’’ Caroline Hassell said.
“The foal could go to the (Inglis) Great Southern Sale next year as a weanling, that’s what we usually do but we won’t make that decision just yet. We’ve bought a couple of horses through Inglis Digital, it’s very user-friendly, (Inglis Senior Bloodstock Consultant) Will Stott helps us a lot and he did with this purchase again, so we’re really happy.’’

Torryburn’s Mel Copelin said they weren’t expecting the mare to make as much as she did and was therefore delighted with the trade.
“The price today was more than we expected but obviously the desire for these Maurice colts is very strong at the moment so we’re delighted with how it’s all played out,’’ Torryburn’s Mel Copelin said.
Meanwhile, seven-time winner Lyrical Girl (Your Song) was purchased by Bell View Park Stud for $155,000.

The daughter of Your Song is out of the winning Not A Single Doubt mare Sheeznodoubt and is therefore a half-sister to G2 Danehill S. placegetter Amish Boy (Star Witness) and She’s Out Star (Star Witness), who was also stakes placed.
At the close of trade, Inglis reported the Inglis Digital September (Late) Sale grossed $2,832,200 and entries for the October (Early) Online Sale are now open and will remain so until midnight AEST on Wednesday, October 5.
