Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
On Friday, we look at a Deep Field filly from a well-related female family, while at Moe, we pay attention to a colt from the immediate family of Music Magnate (NZ) (Written Tycoon). At Murray Bridge, we’ve got a gelding from a half-sister to Kinky Boom (Spirit Of Boom).
Bathurst, Race 7, 4.44pm AEDT, Bathurst Glass & Windows Mdn, $27,000, 1400m

King’s Taj, 3-year-old colt (Written Tycoon x Taraji {Bramshaw})
Three-year-old King’s Taj is from the Bramshaw mare Taraji, a half-sister to the brilliant Music Magnate. Music Magnate won the G1 Doomben 10,000 and a further three Group races, while further along this is the family of the G2 Wellington Guineas winner Marrok (NZ) (Casual Lies {USA}), and the South African Group 3 winner Appeal Process (Volksraad {GB}).
This colt was consigned by Newgate Farm to the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, where he was bought by Anthony Freedman Racing and Julian Blaxland Bloodstock for $240,000. Before that, he was a $185,000 graduate of the 2020 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale.

Tickety Boom was consigned by Raheen Stud to the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, where he was passed in with a reserve of $30,000.

On Thursday, Uptown Boy (Savabeel) and Bokeem (Rubick) were both out of the money at Kembla Grange, while The Unicorn (Choisir) will have to wait another day for her debut after the Ballarat meeting was abandoned.
