Tauranga: G2 Tauranga S., NZ$120,000, 1600m

Back into the winner’s circle for the first time since November last year, Demonetization (All Too Hard) recorded his fourth win at Group level.

Bred in Western Australia by Bob and Sandra Peters, he was purchased by Bruce Perry Bloodstock for $65,000 from the Holbrook Thoroughbreds draft at the 2015 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale.

One of the 22 stakes winners for his Vinery Stud-based sire, he is one of the three stakes winners for his dam Midnight Special (Zabeel {NZ}) - also dam of the G2 Perth Cup winner Midnight Blue (So You Think {NZ}) and the dual Listed winner Neverland (Big Brown {USA}).

Now in Victoria, Midnight Special foaled a Highland Reel (Ire) filly in early September. She had the previous season off with her most recent named foal being the two-year-old, So Brave (So You Think {NZ}).

Midnight Special is one of the six winners for the city winner Done That (NZ) (Centaine) who also produced the Group 3 winners Rainbow Styling (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) and Zingaling (Redoute's Choice) and grandam of the G1 Railway H. winner Inspirational Girl (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}).

Ascot: G3 WA Champion Fillies S., $300,000, 1600m

Drawing clear late as the favourite Laced Up Heels (Toronado {Ire}) peaked on her run having raced wide, Admiration Express (My Admiration) caused somewhat of an upset at nice double-figure odds - breaking her maiden in fine style.

Bred by Namerik Thoroughbreds and sold through their draft for $60,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale - purchased by Jason Miller Racing - Admiration Express is the third stakes winner for her Westbury Park-based sire.

She is the sixth foal and fifth winner for the city winner Comme Ci (Verglas {Ire}), also dam of the stakes placed, metropolitan winners Fred Dag (Patronize) and Janaura (Safeguard).

A half-sister to the stakes-placed Subsequential (Second Empire {Ire}) whose son is the Listed Tasmanian Guineas winner Moving Money (Artie Schiller {USA}), Comme Ci foaled a Patronize filly in mid-September.

A descendant of Todman and Noholme II’s grandam Orama (GB) (Diophon {GB}), Comme Ci has a Patronize yearling colt whilst her yet to race 2-year-old is the Patronize filly, Flinders Lane.

G3 R.J. Peters S., $150,000, 1500m

Returning to the scene of her G3 Champions Fillies S. victory 12 months ago, Searchin’ Roc’s (Awesome Rock) was gutsy enhancing her already impressive record which now reads seven (four of those at stakes level) wins from 14 starts.

A homebred for the Grant family, she is one of the two stakes winners for her young Gold Front Thoroughbreds-based sire, a Fastnet Rock winner of the G1 Emirates S.

She is the second foal for the lightly raced (just the one start) Still Searchin’ (Trade Fair {GB}) whose dam is the multiple city winner Search Me (Verglas {Ire}).

In mid-August foaling, a full sister to Searchin’ Roc’s, Still Searchin’ - who has every second season off - has as her fifth dam one of Australia’s finest matriarchs - the multiple Group 1 winner Denise’s Joy (Seventh Hussar {Fr}).

Listed Placid Ark S., $500,000, 1200m

Remaining undefeated with this classy performance, My Bella Mae (Deep Field) proved too strong for Revitup (Demerit) - the pair providing their trainer Dion Luciani with a black-type quinella.

A homebred for the Tufilli family who passed her in for $70,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, My Bella Mae is the 22nd stakes winner for her Newgate Farm-based sire.

She is the second foal for the multiple city winner Mae West (NZ) (Sir Percy {GB}) whose first born son Mr Papera (Winning Rupert) was fourth in a Hawkesbury maiden (having just his second start) a couple of weeks ago.

Now in New Zealand - served last year by Belardo (Ire) - Mae West also has a yet to be named 2-year-old colt by Ribchester (Ire).

Mae West is a half-sister to the G3 Canterbury Gold Cup winner Who Dares Wins (NZ) (Iffraaj {GB}) out of the stakes-placed Wee Tipple (NZ) (Centaine).

Listed Luckygray S., $125,000, 1800m

What a terrific record Buster Bash (Trade Fair {GB}) is building - this win (his first at stakes level) being the eighth of his 20-start career.

Bred by Alwyn Park and passed in for just $5000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, Buster Bash hails from the penultimate crop of his sire who died in 2018 - and he is that stallion’s 18th stakes winner.

He is one of the six winners from the unraced Disco Miss (Zeditave) who has also produced the city winners Maschino Miss (Maschino), Western Star (Dylan Thomas {Ire}) and Awesome Chatter (Awesome Rock).

A half-sister to the stakes-placed gallopers Lord Prevail (USA) (Woodman {USA}) and Handsome Hansel (Can) (Hansel {USA}), Disco Miss foaled a Jimmy Choux (NZ) colt last month.

Her previous foal is a Gingerbread Man filly whilst her 2-year-old is the yet to race Adam Durrant-trained Disco Kicks (Snippetson).

Bred on a 4 X 3 cross of The Minstrel (Can), Buster Bash is a descendant of the Bred on a 4 X 3 cross of The Minstrel (Can), Buster Bash is a descendant of the influential mare Boudoir II (GB) (Mahmoud {Fr}) - also ancestress of His Majesty (USA), damsire of Danehill (USA) - in turn, damsire of Trade Fair (GB).

Newcastle: G3 Spring S., $200,000, 1600m

A filly on the up, Pierossa (Pierro) was strong to the line stepping up in class off her determined Gosford maiden victory.

Bred by Miller Thoroughbreds and C. Landale, she is stakes winner number 32 for her Coolmore Stud-based sire.

Purchased by Triple Crown Syndications for $120,000 from the Tyreel Stud draft at the 2021 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Pierossa is the fourth foal - and one of the three winners - for the lightly raced but talented Edwina Georgie (Testa Rossa).

In late September producing a filly by Spirit Of Boom, Edwina Georgie had just one start - it was a Deniliquin maiden but she won it by a space.

And now she is really doing the job at stud with Pierossa her second stakes winner, her other being the Listed winning-juvenile Ploverset (Street Boss {USA}).

Also, dam of a yet to be named Dundeel (NZ) 2-year-old colt and a Toronado (Ire) yearling filly, Edwina Georgie has as her closest stakes-winning relation the dual Group winner Niccanova (Nicconi) - great-grandson of her third dam Tarosova (NZ) (Sir Tristram {Ire}).

The Hunter, $1,000,000, 1300m

Godolphin homebred Vilana (Hallowed Crown) added another rich race to his record having also taken out the Silver Eagle in mid-October.

Also, winner of last year’s G3 Fred Best Classic, he is one of the six stakes winners for his Twin Hills Stud-based sire.

His dam is the city-placed winner Retsina (Redoute’s Choice) whose three winners are all stakes winners - the other two being the six-time Group winner Savatiano (Street Cry {Ire}) and the dual Listed winner Athiri (Lonhro).

Foaling a Blue Point (Ire) colt this season and a filly by that same stallion last season, (spoke to John Sunderland just before, he’s over the moon for Retsina), Retsina is a daughter of the G1 QTC Sires’ Produce S. winner Star Shiraz (Sequalo).

Cranbourne: Listed Cranbourne Cup, $500,000, 1600m

Uncle Bryn (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) rounded up his rivals in smart fashion, proving a class above them over the final stages.

Continuing the good recent run by imported gallopers in this race (including the 2020 winner Future Score {Ire} by Sea The Stars’ {Ire} sire Cape Cross {Ire}), the 5-year-old also won the Listed Sale Cup late last month.

Bred by Chasemore Farm, he is one of his Gilltown Stud-based sire’s 102 stakes winners. His Group 2-placed dam Wall Of Sound (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) is also dam of the G3 Prestige S. winner Boomer (GB) (Kingman {GB}).

Wall Of Sound is a half-sister to the G3 John O’Gaunt S. winner The Cheka (GB) (Xaar {GB}) from the family of the multiple Group 1-winning stallion Zafonic (USA).

Doomben: Listed Keith Noud, $150,000, 1200m

It was a good race for Yarraman Park’s reigning Champion Sire I Am Invincible with this black-type quinella - Holyfield and Garibaldi.

Bred by Segenhoe Thoroughbreds and purchased from their draft by Phoenix Thoroughbreds and Aquis Farms at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $800,000, the now four times stakes winner is one of his high-achieving sire’s 85 stakes winners.

His dam is the terrific racemare Hurtle Myrtle (Dane Shadow), winner of four of her 24 starts including the G1 Myer Classic, the G2 Sapphire S. and the G2 Dane Ripper S.

Also, dam of the stakes-placed Vamos Baby (Holyfield’s full sister) and the dual city winner Terwilliker (Pierro), Hurtle Myrtle foaled a Capitalist filly in early September having slipped the previous season to I Am Invincible.

Her previous foal, a yet to be named Deep Field filly, fetched $240,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale - purchased by Bjorn Baker Racing and Clarke Bloodstock.

Stakes winners Whisper Bay (Royal Academy {USA}), Indian Thunder (Manhattan Rain) and He’ll Haunt Us (Time For War) are amongst Holyfield’s relations.
