Looking Ahead - November 25

2 min read

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

For Friday, we have a couple of smartly bred 3-year-olds who will debut within 15 minutes of each other. We kick off at Cranbourne with a Frankel (GB) colt, who steps out for Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, before heading to Canterbury, where an I Am Invincible filly lines up for Annabel Neasham.

Frankham, 3-year-old colt (Frankel {GB} x Isleham {GB} {Street Cry {Ire}})

Bred and sold by Yulong Investments, this colt was bought by First Light Racing/Busuttin Racing/Paul Willetts Bloodstock for $420,000 at the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Frankham is from a mare that is a half-sister to the stakes-performer Crittenden (USA) (Distorted Humor {USA}).

His grandam, Calla Lily (USA) (Pulpit {USA}), won three races and was stakes placed and she is a half-sister to Grade 1 victress Hardest Core (USA) (Hard Spun {USA}).

Also, on this colt’s page is Group 1 winner and Group 1-producing sire Gilded Time (USA).

Trained locally by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Frankham has the services of Craig Newitt.

Canterbury, Race 3, 7pm AEDT, New TAB App H., $55,000, 1100m

Anavinci, 3-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Anabandana {Anabaa {USA}})

Bred and raced by Peachester Lodge, this filly is out of two-time Group 1 winner Anabandana, who has produced Group 2 victor Packing Rockstar (Fastnet Rock).

Anabandana is a half-sister to Listed victress Gybe (Fastnet Rock), who has thrown Listed winner Crosswinds (Written Tycoon).

Anavinci is related to King’s Rose (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice) - a Group 1 winner and the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year in 2011.

Trained by Annabel Neasham, Anavinci, who has won one of her two trials, will be ridden by Chad Schofield.

Looking Back
