Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
There are two selections for Sunday, both of which are debutantes. Beginning at Newcastle we have a juvenile filly who is related to two sires, we then turn to Tasmania where a well-bred 3-year-old son of So You Think (NZ) gets underway.
Newcastle, Race 1, 1.10pm AEDT, O'Neills Tyres Rutherford Paul Perry 2YO Mdn Plate, $40,000, 900m
Blanc De Blanc, 2-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Another Sunday {Redoute's Choice})
Trained by Michael Freedman, Blanc De Blanc will open her account at Newcastle on Sunday. The 2-year-old filly was successful by 3.2l in her sole trial at Randwick-Kensington on November 8, and lines up in a strong juvenile maiden, but has secured the services of Champion Jockey James McDonald and will jump from barrier three

Running in the colours of the James Harron Bloodstock Fillies syndicate, she was purchased by the agent and his trainer at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for $360,000.
Her winning dam Another Sunday is a three-quarter sister to three stakes winners, including King's Legacy and Not A Single Doubt.
Hobart, Race 2, 2.02pm AEDT, Tony Carrick Vase Mdn, $24,000, 1200m
Moveforlex, 3-year-old colt (So You Think {NZ} x Glory Guru {Fusaichi Pegasus {USA}})
Following a single successful trial at Hobart, the Scott Brunton-trained 3-year-old Moveforlex will make his debut at the same track on Sunday. By the brilliant So You Think (NZ), he will likely face a maximum field of 14 in his first start and has drawn barrier 17 under David Pires.

His unraced dam Glory Guru is a half-sister to two stakes winners and has bred one of her own in Gamblin' Guru (New Approach {Ire}), a winner of the G3 SAJC Chairman's S. Amongst two further stakes-placed siblings, seven of Glory Guru's eight foals to race are winners.
Moveforlex was picked up by his trainer at the 2021 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for $240,000.
Looking Back
Looking Ahead's selections for Saturday didn't start so well when Fludway (Exceed And Excel) faded to fifth on debut at Caulfield, before Zoukerette (I Am Invincible) was too keen and finished fourth at Rosehill Gardens. Things went better for the final selection, Mighty (Spirit Of Boom), who justified favourtism at the Gold Coast.
