Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Wednesday at Gosford, we look a filly from the Champion race mare Anabandana (Anabaa {USA}), while on the Gold Coast, we pay attention to a half-brother to stakes winner Miami Fleiss (Spirit Of Boom). At Geelong, we look at a debutante who hails from the family of the Oaks winner My Brilliant Star (Copper Kingdom {USA}).
Gosford, Race 6, 4.20pm AEDT, Tanti Financial Services 3YO Mdn, $40,000, 1200m
Anavinci, 3-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Anabandana {Anabaa {USA}})
This filly comes with a very good pedigree. She is the fifth foal from the Anabaa (USA) mare Anabandana, who was a Champion 2-year-old in New Zealand with dual Group 1 wins and five Group wins in total. Anabandana is a half-sister to the Fastnet Rock filly Gybe, who won the Listed Gimcrack S. and was Group 3 placed.
Anavinci was consigned to the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale but withdrawn from the draft of Torryburn Stud. Instead, she was retained by her breeder Peachester Lodge, in whose colours she races.

The filly is trained by Annabel Neasham at Warwick Farm and she’s done very little wrong. She was second in a debut trial on November 4, and she won her latest trial on November 18 at home. She will have jockey Andrew Adkins aboard in this debut from barrier 10.
Gold Coast, Race 1, 2.18pm AEDT (1.18pm local), Jonker @ Aquis QTIS 2YO H., $35,000, 900m
Cifrado, 2-year-old colt (Encryption x Madame Fly {Excites})
This juvenile colt is the third foal from Madame Fly, who herself is a half-sister to the Group 3-winning Chapter And Verse (Rothesay). He is a half-brother to the stakes-placed gelding Cochrane (Spirit Of Boom), and also to Miami Fleiss, who was a winner of the Listed Eureka Stud Classic at Doomben. This is also the family of the Group 3-winning Boomsara (Spirit Of Boom), whose overall wins included the R. Listed Magic Millions Guineas.
Cifrado was consigned to the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Eureka Stud, where he was sold to Cliff Little for $320,000.

The colt is trained at Toowoomba by Rex Lipp and Nicholas Hahn, and he won his debut trial earlier this month in good fashion. In this debut, he will have jockey Nathan Fazackerley from barrier six.

Shes Indanile, 3-year-old filly (American Pharoah {USA} x Love For Ransom {Red Ransom {USA}})
This filly is a daughter of Love For Ransom, who is a half-sister to the dual Group 2 winner French Emotion (Snitzel). The third dam on this page is the G1 AJC Oaks winner My Brilliant Star, who was also twice Group 1 placed and the dam of the G1 Toorak H. winner Shot Of Thunder (Thunder Gulch {USA}).
Shes Indanile was consigned by Attunga Stud to the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, where she was sold for $115,000 to Andrew Noblet Racing.

The filly is trained by Noblet at Ballarat and she’s had two preparations ahead of this debut. In her latest jump-out, she was fourth of seven and she will have jockey John Allen in this race from barrier two.
Looking Back
Our Looking Ahead selections on Tuesday would have made Meatloaf proud. At Ararat, Crimmo (Pierro) was a winner and Chockablock (Lonhro) was second. At Tamworth, Extessive (Exceed And Excel) was also a winner, so two out of three ain't bad.
