Cressfield - Broodmare Manager and Stud Hand

Cressfield presents an amazing opportunity to join its team in January 2023 and work with one of the highest quality boutique broodmare bands in the Hunter Valley. Consistently in the top five yearling vendors by average, Cressfield prides itself on the quality stock it produces and its professionalism.

We currently have two positions opening for a Broodmare Manager and an experienced Stud Hand.

The Broodmare Manager will be responsible for the health and well-being of approximately 30 resident broodmares and 25 seasonal mares. They will oversee and coordinate all aspects of pre- and post-partum care, be involved with reproductive vet work, the early education of foals, coordinate the farrier, the development and implementation of dietary and vaccination regimes, keep accurate records and liaise with the farming manager to maintain pasture rotations.

This is a well-supported hands-on role that will require the applicant to have outstanding people and communication skills. A desire to encourage and maintain a healthy work culture and a positive attitude towards training and supporting staff is imperative. Extensive experience with broodmares and foaling procedures will be highly regarded.

The Stud Hand will support all day-to-day activities such as those mentioned above and those involved with the general husbandry of Thoroughbreds. The applicant should have sound horsemanship, keen observation skills and an ability to work well within a team environment.

We are excited to be offering these opportunities and look forward to welcoming new team members who can help execute the vision of continued excellence at Cressfield.
