In today's instalment of 2022/2023 Rapid Reflections, we feature a quickfire round with Peter Fitzgerald, Inglis’ media and pr manager.
TDN AusNZ: Favourite racing moment of 2022?
Peter Fitzgerald: Everest Day is such a unique experience, and this year was no different. It’s such an awesome day out. When our slot runner Private Eye hit the front with 75 metres to go, the feeling was insane!
TDN AusNZ: And favourite non-racing moment?
PF: Attending my first AFL Grand Final was as good as I’d imagined, despite the Swans copping a Group 1 pasting.

TDN AusNZ: If you could be someone else in the industry for a day who would it be, and why?
PF: Jason Richardson. Best seat in the house and doesn’t miss a thing.
TDN AusNZ: Who is your favourite racehorse of this year?
PF: She’s Extreme. Good for the wallet and plenty of good people in the ownership.
TDN AusNZ: Who is your favourite stallion, and why?
PF: Exceed And Excel. So good for so long and doesn’t look like slowing down.

TDN AusNZ: Who is the most underrated stallion in Australasia?
PF: Shamus Award.
TDN AusNZ: Who do you think will take out 2023 first-season sire honours?
PF: Trapeze Artist.
TDN AusNZ: Favourite binge-worthy television show?
PF: Two And A Half Men.
TDN AusNZ: What's the best book you read in 2022?
PF: Apart from Best Bets?
TDN AusNZ: Name an emerging human talent in the industry and say why.
PF: Young Inglis bloodstock consultant Angus Robertson. Enthusiastic, energetic, knows his stuff, personable and a star auctioneer of the future to boot.
Angus Robertson
TDN AusNZ: What do you consider the greatest sporting moment of 2022? (Not solely racing related)
PF: Locally, Geelong’s annihilation of the Swans in the AFL Grand Final was sadly, awesomely impressive. On the world stage, Ariarne Titmus’ antics in Birmingham at the Commonwealth Games was right up there – gold in the 200-metre, 400-metre and 800-metre freestyle and the world-record anchor leg in the 4 x 200-metre freestyle relay that led us to another gold medal in the pool was great to watch.
TDN AusNZ: What has been your favourite post-COVID trip this year?
PF: It’s coming shortly – Lennox Head, sleepy coastal town in Northern NSW, cold beer, fresh seafood, bit of fishing, punting and plenty of relaxing.
TDN AusNZ: What positive change would you like to see in the industry in 2023?
PF: Relaxed, weather-appropriate attire in members' areas at major metro racetracks. And more reward/praise/attention for strappers and leaders, both at the sales and on racedays – they work bloody hard.
TDN AusNZ: What's your 2023 New Year's resolution?
PF: More winners, less white bread and hot chips.
