In today's instalment of 2022/2023 Rapid Reflections, we feature a quickfire round with Ashlea Brennan of Ashlea Brennan Photography.
TDN AusNZ: Favourite racing moment of 2022?
Ashlea Brennan: I have plenty but Ellsberg winning (dead-heat) the G1 Epsom H. and giving Sterling Alexiou his first Group 1 would have to be one of them. Lovely team that I have been working closely with over the last year and I thought it was very rewarding. A lot of emotions after the race!
TDN AusNZ: And favourite non-racing moment?
AB: 2022 has been a solid year of growth for me personally and business wise but getting the opportunity to go to Hong Kong for Hong Kong International Races is a pinch me moment.
TDN AusNZ: What are you most looking forward to in the new year?
AB: More growth and hopefully expanding Ashlea Brennan Photography internationally. I’m looking forward to seeing the next lot of horses coming through at the races as well.
TDN AusNZ: If you could be someone else in the industry for a day who would it be, and why?
AB: This is a good one! The king Regan Bayliss on a Group 1 day that he goes onto win. I would just love to know exactly what is going on in his head the morning of, minutes before the race and then afterwards.
TDN AusNZ: Who is your favourite stallion, and why?
AB: Probably So You Think. He is just one of a kind and stamps them so well.

TDN AusNZ: Favourite binge-worthy television show?
AB: Criminal Minds. I have seen all of the seasons at least five times. If I wasn’t in racing or working with animals I would have loved to have been a behavioural analyst.
TDN AusNZ: What's the best book you read in 2022?
AB: Time Wise by Amantha Imber.
TDN AusNZ: Name an emerging human talent in the industry and say why.
AB: Michael Grantham. I might be biased but he is extremely talented at everything he does and always has been.

TDN AusNZ: What has been your favourite post-COVID trip this year?
AB: Going home to my family in Perth.
TDN AusNZ: What's your 2023 New Year's resolution?
AB: Stress less, let go of things that don’t matter and always look at ways to improve what I do!
