The Sabin Kirkland-trained Buoyant (NZ) (Dalghar {Fr}) recorded consecutive black-type wins, taking out the Listed Hazlett S. at Wingatui under Corey Campbell.

The 4-year-old won the NZ$65,000 race by 0.8l, with Lightning Jack (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) second and Golden Harvest (NZ) (Ghibellines) third.

Buoyant is from the unplaced mare Miss Minogue (NZ) (Pentire {GB}), who is a half-sister to the G3 Tibbie S. heroine Spirit Bird (NZ) (Savabeel).

Offered by Brighthill Farm, Buoyant was passed in at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka May Sale (Book 1).

Savabeel mare earns black type

The Listed Hallmark Stud H. at Pukekohe Park was taken out by Synchronize (NZ) (Savabeel), handing the 4-year-old mare a maiden stakes success.

Trained by Mark Walker, Synchronize, under South African jockey Craig Zackey, owned a 2.3l margin at the end of the 1200 metres, with Green Aeon (Snitzel) second and Funny Girl (NZ) (Showcasing {GB}) third.

“We knew she had the ability and it was a good ride by Craig as he held her up and she showed a great turn of foot,” Walker said.

“They were back a fair way, but it looked like they went a good enough clip (in front) and we know with that turn of foot, if we can keep on top of her problems she has a lot more in store.”

Bred and offered by Waikato Stud, Synchronize realised NZ$280,000 at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale (Book 1), with David Ellis signing the ticket.

Synchronize is out of the unraced O’Reilly (NZ) mare Splits (NZ), while the mare’s grandam is the dual Group 1-winning Pins mare Legs (NZ), who has produced the Listed winner Wolfwhsitle (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}).

Guyno (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) – the 2007 G1 WA Derby hero – hails from the same family.

Dreamwoman makes perfect debut

The Leon and Troy Corstens-trained 2-year-old Dreamwoman (Cable Bay {Ire}) fended off all challengers to register an impressive first-up victory at Geelong.

With Jack Hill in the saddle, Dreamwoman led from wire-to-wire, finishing 0.5l ahead of Offensive Charm (Invader), with a further 3.25l back to Elvis (Frosted {USA}) in third.

Bred by Gilgai Farm, Dreamwoman was withdrawn from the 2021 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale.

Dreamwoman is from the unraced Encosta De Lago mare Exsqueeze Me, who has thrown the R. Listed placegetter Namimo (Choisir), while the filly’s grandam is the Group 1 victress Juice (NZ) (Bertolini {USA}).

J-Mac booked for promising Victorian colt

Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young have secured the services of the World’s Best Jockey, James McDonald, for their colt, Sunsource (Zoustar), in Saturday’s 2YO H. at Doomben.

Sunsource won his only start - the R. Listed Magic Millions Ballarat 2YO Classic - on November 19, securing his spot in the R. Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast on January 14.

“James McDonald will ride him next Saturday and then we’ll see afterwards,” Busuttin told News Corp.

“He’s a big, strong, impressive horse.

“You hope that race experience brings him on basically, hope he knows a bit more next time.

“The 1200 metres as opposed to a thousand metres (debut) will give him more time to settle and hopefully he’s doing the same thing (winning) in front at the post.”
