Ahead of the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, we have found three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates over the past couple of months.

The catalogue for the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale was released on November 9, 2022, and since then, a host of yearlings being offered at Bundall next week have had their pedigree enhanced, which is important information for vendors and buyers alike.

Lot 172 - Shalaa (Ire) x Mystical Moment (Snitzel), filly - on account of Sullivan Bloodstock

Bred by Terrann Investments, this daughter of Arrowfield Stud-based sire Shalaa (Ire) will be offered by Sullivan Bloodstock and she is out of unraced Snitzel mare Mystical Moment.

Mystical Moment herself is a daughter of unraced mare Royal Season (USA), making her a half-sister to G2 Sires’ Produce S. winner Twilight Royale (Testa Rossa), the dam of Mystical Moment’s three-quarter sister Royal Hale (Snitzel), who won eight times and was also placed at Listed level.

Twilight Royale’s 2-year-old daughter Serasana (Snitzel) handed this family a timely update earlier in the season when she impressively broke her maiden by 3.3l at Sandown Hillside on December 10.

Lot 544 - Rubick x Whatalovelyday (Domesday), colt - on account of Mill Park Stud

Mill Park will present this colt by Swettenham Stud-based sire Rubick and he has been subject to a timely pedigree update since the Magic Millions catalogue was published.

The youngster is out of the three-time winner Whatalovelyday (Domesday), who was also placed at Group 2 level and two of her children have been keeping this very active family in the headlines.

Whatalovelyday third foal, Benedetta (Hellbent), got off the mark at the second time of asking at Cranbourne on December 29 and looks to have a big future ahead of her.

Further back, this is the same family G1 New Zealand Derby winner Leica Guv (NZ) (Deputy Governor {USA}) and Light Fantastic (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), whose five wins were headed by a victory in the G1 Australian Guineas.

Lot 730 - Brutal (NZ) x Claudia Jean (Not A Single Doubt), colt - on account of Newgate Farm

This colt is from the first-crop of Yulong’s exciting young sire Brutal (NZ) and he is out of the Listed-placed Not A Single Doubt mare Claudia Jean.

Claudia Jean’s third foal was purchased at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock for $180,000 in 2019 and she is now named Capitol Queen (Capitalist). The daughter of Capitalist handed the family an important update when she made a winning debut at Canterbury last Friday, beating Miss Adamas (Headwater) by 1.8l.

The colt derives from the same family as Group 2-placed Milzeel (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) and multiple Group 1 winner Miltak (NZ) (McGinty {NZ}).
