The catalogue for the 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale was released on November 21, 2022, and since then, a host of yearlings being offered at Karaka next week have had their pedigree enhanced, which is important information for vendors and buyers alike.
Lot 24 - Vadamos (Fr) x All About The Coin (Starcraft {NZ}), filly - on account of Rich Hill Stud
There can surely be no better update ahead of the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale than a relation winning the R. Listed Karaka Million 2YO?
Rich Hill Stud can lay claim to this when they offer this Vadamos (Fr) half-sister to Saturday’s winner Tokyo Tycoon (NZ) (Satono Aladdin {Jpn}) on the opening day of the sale.
The filly is out of All About The Coin (Starcraft {NZ}), a three-time winner and half-sister to both Group 2 winner Messene (Lonhro) and Listed winner Cordero (Gio Ponti {USA}), from the extended family of Group 1-producing sire Hallowed Crown.
Vadamos, who shuttles to Rich Hill Stud, has sired four stakes winners in New Zealand and they are headed by G1 Arrowfield Plate winner La Crique (NZ).

Lot 39 - Russian Revolution x Arboreal (Lonhro), colt - on account of Windsor Park Stud
When this catalogue went to press, this colt’s half-brother Trobriand (Kermadec {NZ}) was a one-time winner of his only start, but between now and then the colt has continued to strengthen the page with another two victories, including in the G2 Eclipse S. and only surrendered his unbeaten record when finishing a good third in Saturday’s R. Listed Karaka Million 2YO.
The youngster is out of the placed Lonhro mare Arboreal, who Windsor Park’s Rodney Schick picked up for $40,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2020 and she was carrying Trobriand in utero at the time.
Arboreal herself is out of Listed-winning Exceed And Excel mare Koala Bear and she is a half-sister to three-time Group 3 winner Flying Mascot (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}). The colt is one of 10 lots by Newgate Farm-based Russian Revolution catalogued for the sale.

Lot 36 - So You Think (NZ) x Applegate (Exceed And Excel), filly - on account of Landsdowne Park
Landsdowne Park will offer this daughter of So You Think (NZ) during the first session of the sale and she has been subject to a timely update in the past few weeks.
The filly is out of Listed-winning Exceed And Excel mare Applegate, making her a half-sister to G2 Wakefield Challenge S. winner Impendabelle (Impending), who finished fifth in Saturday’s R. Listed Karaka Million 2YO.
Impendabelle is one of two stakes winners out of Applegate, with the other being Group 3 winner Cloudy (Frosted {USA}).
Exceed And Excel is enjoying a brilliant time as a broodmare sire this season. Since August 1, Darley’s stalwart stallion’s daughters have produced 12 stakes winners headed by Group 1-winning pair Tuvalu (Kermadec {NZ}) and Madame Pommery (No Nay Never {USA}).
