G3 Launceston Cup, $300,000, 2400m
The ninth horse to win the G3 Launceston Cup on more than one occasion, Aurora's Symphony (Glass Harmonium {Ire}) returned to the scene of his 2022 victory in this 2400-metre test and was again too strong.
Making it three winners in a row for his now retired sire whose daughter Glass Warrior won the 2021 edition of this race, Aurora's Symphony has been a tough and consistent performer - winning eight of his 32 starts including the last two Colac Cups.
Bred by R and C Legh Racing, Mr S Kay, Mr D Lowe, the Wright Racing Syndicate, Mr P Liedtke, and Brian Cash, Aurora's Symphony was sold by Blue Gum Farm to Wilde Racing for $40,000 at the 2018 Inglis VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale.
One of his former Blue Gum Farm-based sire's three stakes winners, he is one of the four winners (from as many foals to race) for the unraced Aurora's Hot (Fantastic Light {USA}).
Also dam of the four-time winner Smokin 'Al (Al Samer) who went on to produce the stakes-placed city winner Smokin' Val (Valentina), Aurora's Hot last spring foaled a Kermadec (NZ) filly with her two previous yet to be named foals being a Highland Reel (Ire) colt and a full brother to Aurora's Symphony.
Aurora's Hot's dam is the Listed Tattersall's Plate winner Too Darn Hot (NZ) (Noble Bijou {USA}) whose six winners include the G1 Sydney Cup winner Niwot (Galileo {Ire}).
G3 Vamos S., $150,000, 1400m
It was a longshot winner in the shape of Jaja Chaboogie (Your Song) who just kept finding as the runs came late in this 1400-metre contest named after a dual G3 Launceston Cup winner.
Winning her seventh race at her 30th start, the 6-year-old was bred by F Mylan, Aris Giotas and David Glucksman and passed in for $15,000 at the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
The sixth stakes winner for her Gooree Stud-based, G1 BTC Cup-winning sire, Jaja Chaboogie is one of the three winners produced by the unraced Jaja (Dehere {USA}).
Also dam of the five-time winner Manilenya (High Chaparral {Ire}), Jaja is out of the city winner History Maker (USA) (Rubiano {USA}) from the family of the multiple Group 1 winners Manila (USA) (Lyphard {USA}) and Stately Don (USA) (Nureyev {USA}).
Listed Hellova Street S., $125,000, 1600m
"He wins again - no surprise," declared the caller as the odds-on favourite The Inevitable (Dundeel {NZ}) charged home to record the 16th win of his remarkable 29-start career.
And it was a seventh stakes win for The All-Star Mile aspirant who has done a great job amassing in excess of $1.26 million in stakes.
Bred in South Australia by Tori Park Stud, The Inevitable was a $90,000 purchase for David Brunton from the Cornerstone Stud Farm draft at the 2017 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.
He is one of the 22 stakes winners for his in-form Arrowfield Stud-based, multiple Group 1-winning sire who had two new stakes winners - Aquacade (NZ) and Elliptical - last weekend.
And he is one of 11 winners (from 14 named foals, all of whom made it to the track) for the Listed Oaklands Plate winner Gift Bouquet (King's High) who died in 2018 with this fellow being her final foal.
Her progeny have won 61 races between them - her other foals including including the G3 South Australian Guineas and three-time Listed winner Blahnik (Jeune {GB}), the Listed Pewsey Vale S. winner Elysees (Statue Of Liberty {USA}), the stakes-placed Petman (Lonhro) and the metropolitan winners Monfils (Special Bond) and Tori's Gift (Statue Of Liberty).
Bred on a 6 X 4 cross of Kaoru Star, The Inevitable also boasts a cross of the terrific mare Sans Tares (GB) (Sind {GB}) who appears via her sons Wilkes (Fr) and Worden (Fr).
