The catalogue for the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale was released on December 10, 2022, and since then, a host of yearlings on offer at the Oaklands sale complex have had their pedigrees enhanced, which is important information for vendors and buyers alike.
Lot 250 – Dubious x Zenaida (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), colt – on account of Segenhoe Stud
This chestnut colt is a half-brother to Saturday’s Randwick G1 Surround S., winner Sunshine In Paris (Invader). He is from the Zabeel (NZ) mare Zenaida (NZ), a race-winner during her career, who is leaving an impression in the breeding barn, also having produced the Group 3-winning filly Macroura (Snitzel).
The addition of a recent Group 1 winner on the page should see Lot 250 attract plenty of attention alone. However, Zenaida herself is a half-sister to Vosne Romanee (Electronic Zone {USA}), a triple-Group 1 winner who achieved the title of New Zealand’s Horse of the Year in 2009/10.
This colt is by Aquis Farm’s exciting first-season sire Dubious, a son of Not A Single Doubt, a precocious and tough 2-year-old who won the G3 Breeders’ Plate (1000 metre) on debut, recording the fastest time to date of 56.45s in that event. Later adding the G2 Champagne Classic at Doomben to his CV, Dubious retired to stud in 2020 and will be represented by two yearlings in the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
The colt is one of a 16-strong yearling draft for Segenhoe Stud.

Lot 288 – Harry Angel (Ire) x Bahamas (Teofilo {Ire}), colt – on account Mill Park Stud
This colt is a half-brother to the internationally performed Senor Toba (Toronado {Ire}). Senor Toba was impressive in winning the G3 HJKC Centenary Vase on February 5, and prior to that victory, the gelding was placed in the G1 HKJC Champions and Chater Cup and G1 BRC Queensland Derby.
The colt’s dam Bahamas (Teofilo {Ire}) was a Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed in the Schweppes Oaks. She has also produced the promising Berkeley Square (Territories {Ire}), who won the G2 Moonee Valley Vase in the spring. Bahamas is out of the triple-Listed winner St Trinians (Black Hawk {GB}), making Bahamas a half-sister to Group 2 winner and G1 SAJC Australasian Oaks placegetter Affair To Remember (Toronado {Ire}).
Lot 288 is by Darley’s shuttle sire Harry Angel (Ire), a son of Dark Angel (Ire) who was awarded World Champion Sprinter in 2017 after recording victories in the G1 July Cup and G1 Sprint Cup at Haydock. Harry Angel’s first Southern Hemisphere-conceived crop are current 2-year-olds, and they include Arkansaw Kid, a debut winner of the R. Listed Inglis Banner who placed in last Saturday’s G1 Blue Diamond S. Harry Angel will be represented by five yearlings in the Inglis Premier catalogue.
Lot 288 is one of 13 yearlings listed in Mill Park’s draft.

Lot 397 – Snitzel x Eloping (Choisir), filly – on account Longwood Thoroughbred Farm
This filly is a half-sister to Godolphin starlet In Secret (I Am Invincible), the explosive winner of the G1 Coolmore Stud S. in the spring who recently returned to racing with a victory in the G2 Light Finger S. over 1200 metres at Randwick on February 11. In Secret subsequently was placed in last Saturday’s Randwick G1 Surround S. over 1400 metres.
Her dam Eloping (Chosir) was a tough and durable race mare who won seven races, including the G3 ATC Royal Randwick S. and the G3 Champagne S. at Moonee Valley, both events being held over 1200 metres.
Lot 397 is a daughter of Arrowfield Stud’s four-time Champion Sire Snitzel. Snitzel is the sire of 125 individual stakes winners and is represented by seven lots in the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
The filly is one of 24 yearlings to be presented for local vendors Longwood Thoroughbred Farm.
