Presenting their first draft at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, The Chase offers a select but quality trio of yearlings - all by the brilliant Zoustar, who currently sits fifth in the Australian Sires’ Premiership with over $11 million in progeny earnings.
All bred by China Horse Club, they are breeders of G1 Randwick Guineas winner Communist (Russian Revolution), dual Group 2-winning and G1 Blue Diamond and Thousand Guineas runner-up Revolutionary Miss (Russian Revolution) and four-time Group 2-winning, Group 1 placed and 2020 HTBA Champion 2YO Dame Giselle (I Am Invincible) among many others.
Lot 137 - Zoustar x First Seal (colt)
This colt is a terrific example of his sire - he’s full of quality, well-balanced and very athletic. With a great walk to match, he’s also impeccably bred.
He’s out of the 2015/16 Champion Female Sprinter First Seal (Fastnet Rock), a brilliant winner of the G1 Flight S. Alongside four Group 2 victories, she was also placed in multiple Group 1s, - the Coolmore Classic, Canterbury S., Vinery Stud S., Spring Champion S. and Light Fingers S. Of course, she is also one of the few racehorses to defeat Winx (Street Cry {Ire}), which she did on a number of occasions during her 3-year-old season.
Also a half-sister to G2 Tulloch S. winner Book Of Kells (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}), First Seal has had two foals to race so far, and both are winners.
She’s by Fastnet Rock, one of Australia’s most prominent broodmare sires who’s responsible for 83 stakes winners by that measure, including seven Group 1 winners. One of those recent standouts is Zougotcha (Zoustar), winner of this season’s G1 Flight S., who’s bred on the same Zoustar/Fastnet Rock cross, which is running at an incredible 25.8 per cent stakes performers to runners!
Lot 178 - Zoustar x Inspired Estelle (colt)
A scopey colt, Lot 178 is the first foal from the well-related Manhattan Rain mare Inspired Estelle, a four-time winner including as a juvenile who was twice a Group 2 fourth at two. She’s a three-quarter sister to the all-conquering Champion Sprinter Lankan Rupee (Redoute’s Choice) and Listed winner Manhattan Street.
Whilst she’s also a half-sister to the dam of Group 2 winner Count De Rupee (Real Impact {Jpn}), this colt’s second dam is G3 Champagne S. winner Estelle Collection (NZ) (Stravinsky {USA}).
He’s a powerful colt with a huge hip, and he carries himself well too. He’s stamped with a typical Zoustar head, he has good bone and a big step to his walk. Already an imposing horse, he has huge potential as he continues to furnish and, of course, is out of a fast mare and family, which Zoustar loves.
Lot 456 - Zoustar x Yattarna (filly)
This racey filly, Lot 456, is out of the Group 3 winner Yattarna, who herself is by the top broodmare sire Exceed And Excel, who’s the damsire of Astern as well as 11 other Group 1 winners. In fact, just in the last season from August 1, 2022, he has been the broodmare sire of 32 stakes horses, 11 Group horses and two new Group 1 winners in Tuvalu (Kermadec {NZ}) and Madame Pommery (No Nay Never {USA}).
A young mare, Yattarna has just two foals of racing age, one of whom is a dual-winner. She’s a half-sister to the stakes-placed Fromparis Withlove (Smart Missile) with this filly’s second dam being the Listed Edward Manifold S. winner Umaquest (Umatilla {NZ}).
A high-quality filly who’s well-developed with immense presence, she should be up and running early. She’s well-balanced and has a great walk, with a standout attitude to match. Once you see her, you will understand why her dam has a Zoustar filly at foot and is back in foal to him.
