Scone Race Club - Chief Executive Officer

The Scone Race Club is a leading country race club in NSW, located in the heart of thoroughbred breeding in Australia. Scone is a major racing and training centre with over 200 horses currently in training and conducts 18 race meetings annually, including a Metropolitan Saturday over the two-day Scone Cup Carnival in May. Scone Race Club is earmarked for significant investment in the coming years.

Scone Race Club is looking to appoint a Chief Executive to develop and grow the organisation in line with the strategic direction and values of the Scone Race Club. The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate strong leadership and have the capacity to adopt the club’s strategic plan and work with our partners, who are the leaders in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry.

The Role

The Chief Executive Officer, reporting to the Board of Directors, will be responsible for the management of the Scone Race Club affairs and activities, including the effective administration of the business, overseeing all racing and training activities, events and functions, managing and overseeing capital projects and will lead and mentor all staff and contractors.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

- Excellent racing knowledge, exceptional organisation, communication and public relations skills.

- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

- Capacity to engage with people at all levels to build positive working relationships.

- Ability to motivate staff and provide leadership within a team and manage staff at all levels.

- Knowledge of and involvement in Australian Racing and Racing NSW and their respective rules.

- Capacity to work with the Racing Industry Governing Body and comply with all standards, policies and procedures.

- Thorough understanding of Work, Health and Safety legislation and ability to manage risks.

- Ability to oversee and manage capital works projects.

- Capacity to oversee budget preparation, financial analysis, project management, strategic planning, marketing, compliance/governance and event management.

The Scone Race Club Chief Executive Officer position description will be provided on request. This is a full-time position with the requirement to work weekends to facilitate race days.

A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Aushorse and Thoroughbred Breeders Australia (TBA) - Creative All-Rounder

Aushorse and Thoroughbred Breeders Australia (TBA) are looking for a gun creative all-rounder to help drive our marketing and social media. If you are interested in the thoroughbred industry and have experience in content creation and digital marketing this is a great opportunity to allow you to showcase your talents.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a small but very committed team, delivering our message to a global audience. Working across a range of projects – from our Investor’s Guide to our national traineeship program, Fast Track – they will contribute to the creation of digital strategies and marketing campaigns, and help with content creation and distribution across all channels.

They will also need to be willing to help out on whatever tasks need to get done – it’s an all-hands-on-deck environment and team members are expected to pitch in on a range of jobs across the organisations such as administration support, website maintenance, project management and research.

The right candidate will have lots of energy, ideas and be excited about travelling to events around the country. They should also have a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.

While an understanding and passion for thoroughbreds is important, we are keen to hear from candidates from outside the industry as well as those already working in breeding and racing.

Essential Qualities:

- Outstanding attention to detail.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.

- A good eye for imagery.

- Ability to produce quality work under tight deadlines.

- An understanding and enthusiasm for breeding and racing.

Essential Skills:

- Photography, videography and basic editing.

- Copywriting.

- Capability in website management using WordPress.

- Experience in Canva, InDesign, Photoshop and Mailchimp.

A good understanding of social media channels including paid advertising, scheduling, data and analytics.

This role is based at Canterbury Park racecourse (plenty of parking!!) in Sydney’s Inner West. There is an attractive salary package and lots of opportunity for training and career development.
