Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
For racing on Tuesday, we look at two fillies that are on debut, both at Ballarat-Synthetic. The first is by All Too Hard and is trained by Maddie Raymond, the second is a daughter of Performer from the Tony and Calvin McEvoy barn.
Ballarat-Synthetic, Race 3, 2pm AEST, Polytrack Mdn Plate, $27,000, 1400m
Deliciosa, 3-year-old filly (All Too Hard x Delectable Dora {Mossman})
Bred by Gerry Harvey, this filly was consigned by Baramul Stud at the 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. She was bought by John Foote Bloodstock (FBAA) for $65,000.
Deliciosa is the third foal of a 1200-metre winner who is a half-sister to the Listed scorer Good Master (Testa Rossa) and the stakes performer Merryanna (Stratum).
All Too Hard | Standing at Vinery Stud
Other stakes winners on the filly’s page include Dance The Day Away (NZ) (Seattle Dancer {USA}) and Spring Daffodil (GB) (Pharly {Fr}).
The Maddie Raymond-trained Deliciosa will be handled by Linda Meech.
Ballarat-Synthetic, Race 5, 3pm AEST, Porter Plant Mdn Plate, $27,000, 1000m
Kensington Diva, 3-year-old filly (Performer x Grand Palace {Lonhro})
This filly was bred by Mark Pilkington, and he races her in partnership with a host of others, including Darren Thomas’ Seymour Bloodstock.
The second named foal of a five-time winner, Kensington Diva is a half-sister to the Hobart maiden victor Rue De Palais (Street Boss {USA}).
Performer | Standing at Waylon J Stud
The filly’s second dam, Burning Amber (UAE) (Nashwan {USA}), was unraced and is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Systematic (GB) and the Redcar maiden victress Sunday Smile (GB) (Sunday Silence {USA}). The latter is the dam of the stakes winners Fluky (Jpn) (Redoute’s Choice) and Regard Calme (Jpn) (Lord Kanaloa {Jpn}).
Trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Kensington Diva will be ridden by Harry Coffey.
Looking Back
Austmarr (Exosphere) is a maiden no longer after she won at the third time of asking (in Race 3 at Cranbourne). Invincible Idea (I Am Invincible) was unplaced in the same race, while Womanizer (NZ) (Almanzor {Fr}) failed to finish in the top three in Race 4.
