The New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale has an extraordinary record of producing success across Australasia and Asia.

In the last five racing seasons graduates of this sale claimed 23 Group 1 victories, 102 stakes-level wins and in the recently concluded 2022/23 season graduates claimed eight Group 1s and 26 stakes races.

Lucky Sweynesse (NZ) (Sweynesse) and Golden Sixty (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}), two gallopers that have dominated the Hong Kong circuit for several seasons, could have been purchased for a combined NZ$390,000.

Lucky Sweynesse was offered by Woburn Farm and sold to J & I Bloodstock for NZ$90,000 and Golden Sixty a NZ$300,000 purchase from Riversley Park. Their Hong Kong earnings combined show they have won NZ$30 million.

Prospective buyers only had to look as far as Saturday at Caulfield in Victoria to find another star graduate - Mr Brightside (NZ) (Bullbars), who won his third Group 1 in the Memsie S.

The Bullbars gelding was passed in when he didn’t meet his NZ$50,000 reserve when offered by Phoenix Park at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale.

Other elite gallopers to graduate from the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale include the outstanding Sharp ‘N’ Smart (NZ) (Redwood {GB}).

The gelding was passed-in for NZ$90,000 when offered by Dormello Stud and is set to chase the G1 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups in the spring after claiming the G1 Spring Champion S. and G1 Herbie Dyke S.

The G1 South Australian Derby hero Dunkel (NZ) (Dundeel {NZ}) was also a graduate of this sale, while another graduate, the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Globe (NZ) (Charm Spirit {Ire}), will chase a maiden Group victory in the G2 Feehan S. at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Among the highlights in this year’s catalogue is Lot 172, consigned by Ohukia Lodge, a colt by the reigning Australian Champion Sire I Am Invincible.

The colt is from the G3 Belle of the Turf S. and G3 Godolphin Crown winner Pecans, a daughter of Snitzel.

The colt is from the Johar (USA) mare Guiseppina (NZ). She won the G1 Telegraph H.
