Looking Ahead - September 12

2 min read

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

It’s slim pickings in terms of unexposed talent for racing on Tuesday, but we have found two 3-year-old fillies that are set to debut in the same race at Moe.

Hell Of A Trip, 3-year-old filly (Hellbent x Island Pago {Choisir})

Yarraman Park Stud bred this filly and then offered her at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale. She was bought for $65,000 by Joe O’Neill’s Prime Thoroughbreds.

Hell Of A Trip is the fifth foal of a 1200-metre winner who is a half-sister to the stakes winners Pago Rock (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) and Rock My Pago (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) and the stakes performer Dance Across (Giant’s Causeway {USA}).

The filly’s grandam, Dancing Pago (Thunder Gulch {USA}) was a Listed victress and has been a star producer, throwing eight winners.

Patrick Payne trains Hell Of A Trip, who heads into her debut after four quiet trials. Billy Egan has the ride.

Toi Et Moi, 3-year-old filly (Zoustar x Chloe In Paris {Exceed And Excel})

This filly is bred and raced by the Pope family. They have enjoyed stakes success with good horses including Innovation Girl (Rubiton), Truly Wicked (Rubiton), as well as Chloe In Paris, who is a daughter of Innovation Girl and scored in Listed company. Chloe In Paris is a half-sister to the R. Listed winner Ideas Man (Brazen Beau) and the stakes performer The Original (Dehere {USA}).

The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained Toi Et Moi is closely related to the stakes winners Larimer Street (Brazen Beau), Incumbent and Royal Chalon (Royal Academy {USA}).

Apprentice Carleen Hefel will be in the saddle for the filly’s debut.

Looking Back

On Sunday we had two runners at Sale - McCoy (Zoustar) and Najle (NZ) (Almanzor {Fr}) - and they were both unplaced in their receptive races. Meanwhile, Pretty Little Liar (Sioux Nation {USA}) was scratched from her assignment at the Sunshine Coast.
