Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Wednesday across Australia will focus on the meetings at Cranbourne and Randwick-Kensington, where three well-bred gallopers will step out, including an NZ$850,000 yearling by Savabeel.

Pharoah’s Daughter, 3-year-old filly (American Pharoah {USA} x Queen Of Zealand {NZ} {Savabeel})

On Wednesday, the Cranbourne-based trainer Robbie Laing will unveil a daughter of American Pharoah (USA), Pharoah’s Daughter, at Pakenham.

Pharoah’s Daughter is the first foal from the Savabeel mare Queen Of Zealand (NZ). She was placed at Listed level and is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Pop Star Princess (NZ) (Makfi {GB}).

Furthermore, Pharoah’s Daughter is related to the multiple Group 1 winner Volkstok’N’Barrell (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}).

Pharoah’s Daughter failed to meet her reserve of $60,000 when offered by Daisy Hill at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Pakenham-Synthetic, Race 3, 2.10pm AEDT, Hygain Mdn Plate, $37,500, 1400m

Piercing Threw, 4-year-old gelding (Pierro x Heriz {Redoute’s Choice})

Mornington-based trainer Rory Hunter will travel to Pakenham on Wednesday to unveil the Pierro gelding Piercing Threw.

Piercing Threw is the sixth foal from the Redoute’s Choice mare Heriz. She was unraced but is the dam of the Group 3 winner Jamaican Rain (Manhattan Rain) and the Group 2-placed Diasonic (Reset).

Piercing Threw was a $250,000 purchase by Viribright Racing from the draft of Newhaven Park at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Randwick-Kensington, Race 1, 2pm AEDT, Best Of Bordeaux @ Coolmore Plate, $60,000, 1400m

Incessant (NZ), 3-year-old colt (Savabeel x Relentless Desire {NZ} {O'Reilly {NZ}})

The well-bred Incessant (NZ) from the Annabel Neasham stable will step out on Wednesday at Randwick-Kensington.

The son of Savabeel is the second foal from the O’Reilly (NZ) mare Relentless Desire (NZ). She is a full sister to the dam of the G1 New Zealand Oaks victress Amarelinha (NZ) (Savabeel).

In addition, Relentless Desire is a half-sister to Metal Bender (Danasinga), who won nine races, including four at the elite level.

Incessant was an NZ$850,000 purchase by TFI from the draft of Waikato Stud at the 2022 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale.

Looking Back

There was not a lot of luck for Tuesday's selections. The best result was So You Suggest (So You Think {NZ}) who placed at Goulburn, while Slinky (The Autumn Sun) was unplaced at the venue. Deep Core (Deep Field) was unplaced at Swan Hill to round out Tuesday's selections.
