Looking Ahead - October 31

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two well-related fillies are set to make their career debuts at Swan Hill on Tuesday. One filly hails from the family of the Champion Anamoe, while the other is closely related to the outstanding sire Invincible Spirit (Ire).

I Never Dreamed, 3-year-old filly (Shamus Award x Impulsive Dream {Encosta De Lago})

Ben, Will and JD Hayes will debut I Never Dreamed, a 3-year-old filly by Shamus Award, on Tuesday at Swan Hill.

The filly is the fourth foal from the Encosta De Lago mare Impulsive Dream. She was a winner as a juvenile and placed in the G2 Sires’ Produce S. and the G2 Champagne Classic.

I Never Dreamed is related to several recent stakes winners including the G2 Angus Armanasco victress Shuffle Dancer (I Am Invincible), and the Listed winners Zoukerette (I Am Invincible) and Zoukerino (Snitzel).

The filly is also from the family of the outstanding sire Invincible Spirit (Ire) and the Group 1 winner and sire Pride Of Dubai.

I Never Dreamed was a $125,000 purchase by Lindsay Park Bloodstock from the draft of Ultra Thoroughbred Racing at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Brave Emma, 3–year-old filly (Extreme Choice x I’m In Stitches {I Am Invincible})

A potential bargain buy from the Steven Noble stable, Brave Emma, a daughter of Extreme Choice, will hit the racetrack at Swan Hill for the first time on Tuesday.

Brave Emma is the second foal from the I Am Invincible mare I’m In Stitches, who is from the family of the G1 Oakleigh Plate victor Drum (Marauding {NZ}).

Furthermore, this is the family of the G1 Australasian Oaks victress Anamato (Redoute’s Choice), the dam of the Champion Anamoe.

The gun filly Tiz Invincible (I Am Invincible), who won the G2 Furious S. and the G2 Tea Rose S., also hails from the family of Brave Emma.

Brave Emma was a $75,000 purchase by L McMaster at the 2021 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale by Two Bays Farm. Brave Emma was then sold for $2000 to Apostles Racing in the 2023 Inglis Digital August Sale.

Looking Back

Sunday provided little joy for our selections. On the Sunshine Coast Commandoro (I Am Invincible) was fourth. While at Sale in Race 1, both Super Dawn (Exceed And Excel) and O’Caldino (Dundeel {NZ}) were unplaced.
