On Tuesday morning, Rosehill Gardens held 14 trials, including four heats for the juveniles that saw several eye-catching performances including a 7.53l trial winner.
Before the juvenile heats was the return of the Chris Waller-trained Chrysaor (Better Than Ready) in Heat 6, the Star Thoroughbreds-raced 3-year-old colt was a last-start impressive winner of the $1 million G2 Callander-Presnell S.
While in the opening heat, Annabel Neasham’s G3 San Domenico S. winner Sweet Ride (Deep Field) was an authoritative 1.2l victor from Angel Of Light (Adelaide {Ire}).
Baby blasts away
The Richard and Will Freedman-trained Zoubaby (Zoustar) controlled Heat 7 over 900 metres from the front, ridden by Tyler Schiller; she was allowed to stride to the front and, keeping out of trouble, was able to accelerate away from a 3.57l success. However, several juveniles were working to the line solidly.
Zoubaby is the first foal from the Magnus mare Magnaflight, who is a half-sister to the brilliant sprinting mare Viddora (I Am Invincible), a victress of the G1 Winterbottom S. and the G1 Moir S. Avenue Bloodstock alongside Richard and Will Freedman paid $300,000 to secure the daughter of Zoustar from the draft of Widden Stud at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Holding second was the Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained Husk, a son of the former Coolmore shuttler Calyx (GB). The filly, co-bred and now owned by Kirks Bridge Farm, is the fifth foal from the once-raced Denman mare Tikal.
Husk is a half-sister to the eight-time winner Casino Seventeen (Casino Prince), who has scored twice in Listed events.

Ridden out to the line by Chad Schofield, to hold third was Lilac (Justify {USA}) from the Annabel Neasham stable. The filly is the second foal from the Fastnet Rock mare Paulownia, who was placed in the G2 Wellington Guineas.
Paulownia hails from an extensive black-type family. She is a full sister to the Group 1-producing sire Foxwedge, who won the G1 William Reid S. and the G2 Roman Consul S. during his racing career. Paulownia is also a full sister to the Listed The Rosebud victress She’s Fox.
Lilac cost NZ$300,000 when purchased by Champion Thoroughbreds and Annabel Neasham from the draft of Curraghmore Stud at the 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale.

Two runners caught the eye running home in the 900-metre heat. The first was the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained Commanding Artist (Trapeze Artist), who, if asked for more effort by Tim Clark, could arguably have finished third.
The colt is a homebred for Vieira Racing and is a half-sister to the G3 Nivison S. and the Listed Razor Sharp S. victress Sky Command (Deep Field).
The other who caught the eye was Mergeila (Justify {USA}), a $750,000 graduate of Coolmore’s 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale; Yulong purchased the colt.

The juvenile is the first foal from the star mare Invincibella (I Am Invincible), who won 12 races, including the G1 Tattersall’s Tiara and the G2 Sheraco S.
Mergeila, like her dam, is trained by the Champion Trainer Chris Waller. The filly, ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, settled towards the back of the field but was doing her best work after the line.
Eagle amazes in Heat 8
Few trials had a more effortless winner than Heat 8’s Amazing Eagle (Capitalist). The 2-year-old colt from the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou barn won by an easy 7.53l.
The colt bounced from the barriers with intent and, upon entering the straight, simply left the others in his dust, not making much of an impression. Amazing Eagle is a son of Newgate Farm’s Golden Slipper victor Capitalist. He is a son of the Charge Forward mare Taliqua, who won once over 1100 metres and is from the family of Allergic (Street Cry {Ire}), a winner over 1700 and 2400 metres.
Allergic won the G3 Colin Stephen H. and was placed in the G1 Metropolitan H. and the G1 South Australian Derby. Amazing Eagle was a $400,000 purchase by George Moore Bloodstock from the draft of Highgrove Stud at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Neasham and Triple Crown Syndications' Madame Fiocca, a daughter of Darley’s first-season sire Microphone, finished an adrift second. The filly is the second foal from the unraced Hidden Talent, a daughter of I Am Invincible. She is a half-sister to the smart 2-year-old Madeenaty (Exceed And Excel), and a daughter of the G2 Dane Ripper S. victress Set For Fame (Reset), also a placegetter in the G1 Australian Guineas.

Madame Fiocca was a $70,000 purchase by Triple Crown Syndications from the draft of Lime Country Thoroughbreds at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
In third, over 8l away, was a daughter of another first-season sire, Zousain; Amelita, the filly from the Waller stable, is the first foal from the More Than Ready (USA) mare Miss Amelia. She is a daughter of the brilliantly fast Amelia’s Dream (Redoute’s Choice), an unbeaten 2-year-old and winner of the G2 Silver Slipper S.
Amelita, an Edinglassie Thoroughbreds' 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate, was a $280,000 purchase by Magic Bloodstock, Noel and Maria Greenhalgh and Julia Ritchie.
Tardelli holds King at bay
John O’Shea’s 2-year-old colt Tardelli (I Am Invincible) was a comfortable winner over Peter and Paul Snowden’s King Of Roseau (Capitalist). Finishing third was Dark Arts (Snitzel), while making up a stack of ground was Waller’s Let’s Go Barbie (Yes Yes Yes).
Tardelli, a son of Australia’s reigning Champion Sire I Am Invincible, is the third foal from the unraced Pierro mare Pierro Moss. She is a daughter of the Listed Starstruck Classic and Listed Dark Jewel Classic winner Upon This Rock (Fastnet Rock).
The colt hails from a prominent black-type family that includes the multiple Group 1 winner Criterion (NZ), while the exciting Charm Stone (I Am Invincible), a victress of the G3 Ottawa S., the G3 Quezette S. and the Listed Atlantic Jewel S. are from this family.
Tardelli was a $360,0000 purchase by Bruce Perry Bloodstock (BAFNZ) from the Yarraman Park Stud at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
The second-placed King Of Roseau (Capitalist) is the last foal from the late Dominica (Choisir), a daughter of the Danzero mare Danni Martine, a victress of the G1 Coolmore Classic.
King Of Roseau was a $95,000 purchase by Pulse Racing Thoroughbreds and Pinhook Bloodstock International (FBAA) from the draft of the Ashleigh Thoroughbreds at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The Hawkes Racing-trained Dark Arts, a colt by Snitzel, was third. His dam is the multiple Group 3-placed Zabeel (NZ) mare Zasorceress (NZ). Dark Arts is a $600,000 graduate from Kitchwin Hills 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling draft selling to Andrew Williams Bloodstock (FBAA) and Bevan Smith Bloodstock.
A fast-finishing sixth was Waller’s Let’s Go Barbie, a daughter of Waller’s The Everest hero Yes Yes Yes and now a first-season sire at Coolmore.
The November-born filly was bred and is owned by Rockingham Thoroughbreds. Let’s Go Barbie is the first foal from the five-time winner Gayatri (Pierro).
Anode impresses
Like the earlier Heat 8, won by Amazing Eagle, Heat 10 saw the I Am Invincible colt Anode stroll to a visually impressive victory. Not much behind Anode made much of an impression, Mamushka (Capitalist) held second, while the Godolphin filly Turbinado (Lonhro) was the best of the chasers, making ground to finish third.
Anode, trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, failed to meet his $375,000 reserve at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling and has been retained to race by Evergreen Rich. The colt is from the Fantastic Light (USA) mare Mysterious Light, who won twice and has produced the Group 3-placed Han Xin (Sepoy). Anode is also from the family of the Zoustar entire Lightsaber, a victor of the G2 Sires’ Produce S. and placegetter in the G1 Australian Guineas.
The John O’Shea-trained Mamushka, who finished second, is a daughter of the G1 Coolmore Classic victress Steps In Time (Danehill Dancer {Ire}). Mamushka’s pedigree page includes the multiple Group 1 winner Vision And Power (NZ) (Carnegie {Ire}) and the high-class Espiona (Extreme Choice).
The filly cost John O’Shea Racing $200,000 from the Meredith Park draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Turbinado, a daughter of Darely’s pensioned Champion Lonhro, is homebred for the Godolphin operation, made considerable ground to run third, indicating she would appreciate more than the 900 metres of Tuesday’s trial.

Her dam Demerara, a daughter of Commands, won seven races, including the Listed Silk Stocking H. and was placed in the Listed Alinghi S. She is a sister to Limes, a winner of the Listed Hawkesbury Guineas and placegetter in the G1 Sires’ Produce S.
