Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
We go country racing at Hamilton and Tamworth on Tuesday. In Victoria, we look at a 3-year-old gelding on debut by The Autumn Sun, while in New South Wales, a More Than Ready (USA) filly with a nice international pedigree steps out for the first time.
Tamworth, Race 2, 2.45pm AEDT, Hawkk Facilities Country Boosted Mdn Plate, $30,000, 1000m
Tingler, 3-year-old filly (More Than Ready {USA} x Solar Verde {GB} {Oasis Dream {GB}})
This Brett Cavanough-trained filly was not offered at public auction.
Tingler is out of a winner at seven furlongs (1400 metres) in Ireland and she herself is a half-sister to the Listed victress Swiss Range (GB) (Zamindar {USA}).
The filly’s second dam, Spanish Sun (USA) (El Prado {Ire}), was a Group 2 winner and a sister to the top-flight hero Spanish Moon (USA).

Tingler, who will debut under Luke Rolls, finished third and second respectively in two trials ahead of her first start.
Hamilton, Race 4, 3pm AEDT, Ace Radio Mdn Plate, $27,000, 1600m
Autumn Acquisition, 3-year-old gelding (The Autumn Sun x Jeu de Cartes {NZ} {Stravinsky {USA}})
Cressfield bred this gelding and offered him at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. He was purchased for $250,000 by Freedman Racing/Julian Blaxland Bloodstock (FBAA).
Autumn Acquisition is out from a talented filly/mare. She won nine races, including a Group 2 and two at Listed level. A half-sister to the elite-level hero and Group 1-producing sire Nom du Jeu (NZ), Jeu de Cartes (NZ) has produced the stakes performer Merited (Fastnet Rock).

The gelding’s grandam, Prized Gem (NZ) (Prized {USA}), was the Champion Older Female in New Zealand in 2002/03. Two of her nine victories were in top company.
The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Autumn Acquisition has had two trials and finished third at Tatura late last month.
Veteran jockey Rhys McLeod has been engaged.
