Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
There’s a handy 2-year-old race at Scone on Tuesday, and in that race we have found two well-related fillies; one by Microphone, the other by Pierata. Meanwhile, at Terang, a 3-year-old daughter of the in-form stallion Trapeze Artist debuts for Shane Nichols.

Madame Fiocca, 2-year-old filly (Microphone x Hidden Talent {I Am Invincible})
Segenhoe Thoroughbreds Australia bred this filly, who was offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. She was bought for $70,000 by Triple Crown Syndications.
The Annabel Neasham-trained Madame Fiocca is by Darley Australia’s freshman sire Microphone, from an unraced half-sister to the Listed victress Madeenaty (Exceed And Excel).

The filly’s grandam, Set For Fame (Reset), won five races, with four of them at stakes level. She saluted three times in Group 2 company.
Heavelon Van Der Hoven takes the ride aboard the first-starter, who was second in a Rosehill trial on December 5.

Miss Piera, 2-year-old filly (Pierata x Abriola {Von Costa De Hero})
This filly was passed in after being consigned by Murrulla Stud at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale (Highway Session).
Miss Piera is out of a three-time winner.

The filly’s second dam, Reannag (Canny Lad), was a winner at two and she is a sister to the two-time winner Yes She Can Cancan - the dam of two Group 1 scorers - Ofcourseican (Mossman) and Gimmethegreenlight. Ofcourseican has thrown the Group 3 winner Persan (Pierro), while Gimmethegreenlight is a Group 1-producing sire in South Africa. Reannag is also a sister to the dual victress Satnav - the dam of the Group 3 scorers Gregers (Commands) and Girl Guide (Churchill Downs).
Apprentice Anna Roper has been booked for the ride aboard the Bjorn Baker-trained debutante - a Hawkesbury trial winner on December 12.

Miss Terasita, 3-year-old filly (Trapeze Artist x Kiss The Sun {Anabaa {USA}})
Star Witness Bloodstock bred this filly, who was later consigned by Widden Stud at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. She was knocked down to Shane Nichols Racing for $120,000.
Miss Terasita is a half-sister to three winners, including the stakes performer Kimberley Star (Star Witness).

The filly is from an unraced half-sister to the stakes winners Undoubtedly, Regal Kiss (Royal Academy {USA}) and Toorak Thunder (Real Cash {USA}).
Other stakes winners on her page include Satellite Bay (Don’t Say Halo {USA}) and Runaway Knight.
Miss Terasita, who was unplaced in a Cranbourne trial on April 5, will be handled on debut by apprentice Lauren Burke.
