This position would also ideally suit a couple (with family) should the partner have skills in horse care, gardening, photography, social media, administration skills, etc.
Candidates must be motivated, have a 'can-do' attitude and be passionate about working with horses. Previous experience working on stud farms is a must.

The Assistant Stud Manager role:
• Work closely with Rob Petith, our Stud Manager, in the day-to-day running of a commercial thoroughbred farm.
• Management of staff rostering, daily planning, and assigning daily tasks.
• Preparation of yearlings and weanlings for sales.
• Assist farriers and veterinarians – booking and coordinating.
• Experience in foaling mares (including post-natal care).
• Handling, exercising and caring for horses of various ages.
• Overseeing the daily care and supervision of horses, paddocks and stable work.
• Feeding, grooming, mucking boxes, general farm cleaning and tidying.
• If a couple is applying, a combination of horse and aligned skills is considered.
• Managing daily worksheets, billing and record keeping.
• Responsible for training of new staff.
• Participation and planning with the Silverdale Academy Intern Programs and coordination of Silverdale Intern Program – on-site learning skills.
Desirable Experience:
• Strong ability to lead a team.
• Focused attention to detail.
• Able and willing to be ‘hands-on’.
• Must have experience in areas of broodmare management, handling and yearling sales preparation.
• Must have proven experience in similar operations with health and safety management practices.
• Ability to effectively organise and supervise a small team.
• Equine nursing skills are an advantage.
