Since the catalogue for the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale has gone to print, a host of yearlings will go through the ring at the Karaka complex, have had their pedigrees enhanced, which is important information for vendors and buyers alike.
Lot 295 - Dundeel (NZ) x Parmalove (Snitzel), filly - on account of Inglewood Stud
The pedigree of this filly (Lot 295) could be enhanced further as her half-sister Velocious (NZ) (Written Tycoon) lines up as a leading chance in Saturday’s NZ$1 million R. Listed Karaka Millions 2YO.
However, Velocious has done enough to date to secure her Dundeel (NZ) half-sister’s place here as victress of the Listed Challenge S. and placing in the G2 Eclipse S.
Of course, the filly is also a daughter of Arrowfield Stud’s outstanding sire Dundeel, who enjoyed a sensational season last year, siring the likes of the triple Group 1 winner Militarize (NZ), while her dam, Parmalove, is a daughter of Arrowfield’s Champion Sire Snitzel.

Lot 358 - Savabeel x Romantic Time (Fastnet Rock), colt - on account of Cambridge Stud
This colt will already rate highly being a son of Waikato Stud’s Champion Sire Savabeel, the sire of the likes of the G1 TJ Smith S. victor I Wish I Win (NZ) and the dual Group 1-winning mare Atishu (NZ) among many others.
Bred by the legendary nursery Cambridge Stud, Lot 358 already bequeaths a quality pedigree. His dam the Fastnet Rock mare Romantic Time has proven a classy producer, highlighted on the page is Lot 358’s half-brother Young Werther (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}), who has placed in such contests as the G1 Australian Derby and the G1 Turnbull S., alongside a Listed-winning half-sister Romantic Lady (NZ) (Power {GB}).
However, the best might be yet to come, with the emergence of the American Pharoah (USA) filly About Time (NZ). The lightly-raced filly who runs in the Cambridge Stud silks, recently and aptly saluted in the G2 Sir Patrick Hogan and was placed in the Listed Trevor Eagle Memorial S.

Lot 396 - Proisir x She’s Aloof (NZ) (Pentire {GB}), filly - on account of Rich Hill Stud
This chestnut filly is a daughter of New Zealand’s reigning Champion Sire Proisir, who stands at Rich Hill Stud, and is from a daughter of a former Rich Hill Stud-based sire in Pentire (GB).
Lot 396’s dam She’s Aloof (NZ), was placed and this filly is her fifth foal,with her fourth foal a 2-year-old by Ace High.
She’s Aloof has had two foals to race with one of those being the classy Lupo Solitario (NZ). The son of Rich Hill Stud’s Satono Aladdin (Jpn) was recently victorious in the G3 Bonecrusher S. and will contest the NZ$1.5 million Karaka Millions 3YO.

Lot 229 - Contributer (Ire) x Minnaleo (NZ) (Black Minnaloushe {USA}), filly - on account of Prima Park
Prima Park will present a full sister to the classy John O’Shea-trained Lion’s Roar (NZ).
Lion’s Roar is already a Group 1 winner having claimed the G1 Randwick Guineas as a 3-year-old, but recently he has hit a patch form that has seen him salute in the G3 Summer Cup at Randwick, place in the $750,000 The Little Dance and run third in the $2 million G2 The Ingham.
