What’s the worst non-racing job you’ve ever done?
Cherry Taylor - Trelawney Stud: That’s hard, I’ve honestly enjoyed my jobs at different stages of my life, for different reasons. I’m not great at public speaking so I will say I like that the least.
Andrew Seabrook - New Zealand Bloodstock: Docking lambs.
John Galvin - Fortuna: Fellmongery worker.
Henry Plumptre - Cambridge Stud: Cutting cauliflower for my old man mid-winter.
Paul Moroney - Paul Moroney Bloodstock: Worked at a cheese factory just after leaving school, fortunately only for five days.
Kylie Bax - Bax Bloodstock: Picking garlic!
Jason Abrahams - Champion Thoroughbreds: A bank teller.
Russell Warwick - Westbury Stud: Pulling weeds and grubbing thistles.
Wade Smith - Westbury Stud: Fencing, I had no passion for digging holes.
Gallery: Industry professionals state what’s the worst non-racing job they've ever done?
Bruce Perry - Bruce Perry Bloodstock (BAFNZ): Cutting and sorting brussel sprouts for a few weeks while on my OE in the early '80s.
Nick Fairweather - Carlaw Park: Picking asparagus.
Rick Williams - The Oaks Stud: Crutching ewes.
Robert Wellwood - Kingsclere Stables: Picking apples for my parents as a child, I’m still waiting for the invoice to be paid.
Cam Rodger - Entain: My first job at 15 was working at the local McDonalds. Still the hardest graft I’ve done. Every job since has felt like a breeze!
Jasmine Robertson - Ziba Creative: Picking strawberries, closely followed by working as a rousey in a shearing gang.
Jo Griffin - Lime Country Thoroughbreds: As a cleaner at a backpackers in Queenstown in exchange for accommodation. I don’t ever want to hear anyone complain about picking up horse poo.
Caroline Searcy - Searcy Media: When I worked for a large video chain while I was at uni, they used to buy up smaller video stores who weren't doing well. They offered extra work scraping the labels off the video tapes using shellite, which is like lighter fuel! Tedious work and it stank but every $$ counted as a uni student!
Wayne Stewart - White Robe Lodge: Working in a Wool Scour.
