Buyer: Bjorn Baker Racing and Clarke Bloodstock (FBAA)
Vendor: Newgate Farm
Warwick Farm-based horseman Bjorn Baker only needs to complete a leisurely stroll from his stables to the Riverside complex at Inglis, and based on the bargain he secured with Lot 564, a Capitalist filly out of a stakes-winning Scat Daddy (USA) mare, Paulita (USA).

“She’s a lovely filly, she’s very elegant and has a lot of quality and class about her, she moves really well,” Baker told The Thoroughbred Report.
“Scat Daddy is a really good broodmare sire the world over, the first three dams (of Lot 564) are stakes winners, and I just thought she was a lovely filly.”
With the lucrative Inglis Pink Bonus available, Baker and his team have identified an opportunity to race a filly with her quality as a ladies syndicated horse, boosting her chances of recouping her $140,000 purchase price.

“She’s going to be a ladies filly, my wife is going to keep a share and so is Georgia Griffin, my client relations manager, and she’s the one to contact!
“We were thrilled to get her, we looked at her pre-sale, I did an Instagram live last Friday and she’s the horse that we showed. So she was definitely on our radar at the start of the sales and we’re wrapt to get her.
“I just thought she had a really good presence and she moved well. She’s well put together and overall is a filly with a really good pedigree, and Capitalist is doing a great job as well.

Baker has enjoyed his time across the road shopping for the next group of horses for his clients, with some value on offer to get the best opportunities for current and prospective owners.
“There’s always good value (here), a lot of good horses come out of this sale, at the end of the day that’s what it’s about.
“It’s very easy logistically this sale (for us) compared to Magic Millions and New Zealand, it’s right on my back doorstep from where I train everyday.
“I’ve enjoyed it, I think we bought some nice quality horses.”
