Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Three exciting runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Tuesday, including Cracksman (GB) and Lonhro 3-year-olds having their second starts at Kembla Grange and a well-bred Impending filly looking to break her maiden tag at Terang.

Bank Heist (GB), 3-year-old colt (Cracksman {GB} x Clenor {Ire} {Oratorio {Ire}})

The well-bred Bank Heist (GB) is set to have his second start over 1500 metres for Michael Freedman at Kembla Grange, on the back of a very promising debut performance at Hawkesbury on February 21 over 1300 metres.

Bank Heist is a son of Darley Europe’s sire Cracksman and is out of Clenor (Ire). She was a three-time winner on the track as a juvenile and her wins included Listed success in the Santa Anita Surfer Girl S., and Del Mar Oak Tree Juvenile Fillies Turf S.

Oceans Quiet, 3-year-old filly (Lonhro x Gregers {Commands})

The Randwick-based trainers Peter and Paul Snowden will prepare the well-bred filly Oceans Quiet to make her second start at Kembla Grange on Tuesday after running a tidy fourth on debut on February 13 at Hawkesbury over 1100 metres.

Oceans Quiet is by Lonhro out of the Commands mare Gregers, she was talented and very quick on the track, managing to win six races including the G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude and the G3 Cockram S., as well as placing in the top-four in seven Group 1 races.

Gregers is also a three-quarter sister to the stakes-placed Club Command (Commands) and a half-sister to Girl Guide (Churchill Downs) who won the G3 How Now S. Other successful stakes performers in the family include the Coolmore Classic heroine Ofcourseican (Mossman) who in turn left the classy tough stayer Persan (Pierro) who was a winner on nine occasions including the G3 The Bart Cummings.

Since producing Oceans Quiet, Gregers has weanling and foal colts by Tagaloa and was most recently served by Yulong Stud’s Diatonic (Jpn) last spring.

Tamahine, 3-year-old filly (Impending x Arohanui {Bianconi {USA}})

The Ciaron Maher trained Impending filly Tamahine will travel to Terang on Tuesday to have her second start over 1400 metres on the back of a very promising runner-up placing at Ballarat on February 14.

Tamahine is the fifth foal from the Bianconi (USA) mare Arohanui, who was a two-time winner. She has proven to be a very handy broodmare leaving four winners including the Jericho Cup and Grand National Hurdle victor in Wil John (Reset), the stakes-placed stayer Wahine Toa (Dalakhani {Ire}), three-time winner Aroha Te Mana (Von Costa De Hero) and the extremely exciting prospect Another Wil (Street Boss {USA}) who added another win to his record on Saturday at Flemington when smashing his opposition by 4.5l over the mile distance.

This maiden 1400-metre race looks an ideal race for Tamahine to break her maiden status and add to the family record of success. Since producing Tamahine, Arohanui has produced a yet-to-race Puissance De Lune (Ire) 2-year-old filly before passing away shortly after foaling in 2011.

Looking Back

Our selections for Sunday fared okay. Both Happy Link (Toronado {Ire}) and Telescope (Zoustar) ran into second-place finishes at Pakenham and Colac respectively.
