Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

A trio of 3-year-olds of interest contest Victorian maidens tomorrow - a daughter of Russian Revolution who enjoyed stakes success at Caulfield on Saturday, a Deep Field filly capable of second-up improvement and a Written By half-brother to a Group 1 winner.

Beurre Rouge, 3-year-old filly (Russian Revolution x Butters {USA} {El Prado {USA}})

Making her debut off a Bendigo jump-out victory for the Ciaron Maher stable, Beurre Rouge was bred by Bromfield Park and sold by Vinery Stud to her trainer for $300,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

By Newgate Farm's dual Group 1 winner who added an 11th stakes winner to his tally on Saturday - his son Brudenell taking out the Listed Bel Esprit S. at Caulfield - she is the second last foal produced by the excellent producer Butters (USA).

Five of her six foals to race are winners including the terrific mare Foxplay (Foxwedge), winner of five races including the G1 Queen of the Turf S., the G2 Phar Lap S., the G2 Tea Rose S. and the G2 Furious S.

A stakes-winning granddaughter of the dual Group 1 winner Eliza (USA) (Mt Livermore {USA}), Butters is also dam of the stakes-placed, city winner El Rocko (Fastnet Rock) and the metropolitan winner Butterboom (Myboycharlie {Ire}).

Swan Hill, Race 2, 1.40pm AEDT, A Grade Sheds Mdn Plate, $27,000, 1300m

Bravissima, 3-year-old filly (Deep Field x Lipizzan {Sebring)}

Second-up having been sound in a deeper maiden at Pakenham when resuming, this Lindsay Park filly was a real improver second-up last time in - lining up for just her fourth start here.

Bred by Laurel Oak Bloodstock (FBAA), Grant Bloodstock and the Carpe Diem Syndicate, she was sold by Silverdale Farm and bought back by Laurel Oak for $300,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

By her now retired sire who has been well-represented by 28 stakes winners, she is the second foal for the lightly raced Canterbury winner Lipizzan who ran second in the Listed Woodlands S. at Scone.

A granddaughter of the Listed Dark Jewel Classic winner Really Flying (Real Quiet {USA}) - dam of the G3 WATC Sires' Produce S. winner Camporella (Exceed And Excel) - she was served last spring by Artorius after foaling a colt by Captivant.

Swan Hill, Race 3, 2.15pm AEDT, Elders Swan Hill Mdn Plate, $27,000, 16300m

In Print, 3-year-old gelding (Written By - Elite Ateates (Exceed And Excel)

Bred by successful WA breeders Anita Vale Stud whose latest big-race winner is Widden Stud's Portland Sky, In Print has been solid at his two runs this time in and a win looks close for the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained chestnut.

Sold by Springmount to the stable and Belmont Bloodstock Agency (FBAA) for $380,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, he is by Widden Stud's up-and-comer Written By out of the dual city winner Elite Ateates.

Four of her five foals to race are winners including the G1 Winterbottom S. winner Elite Street (Street Boss {USA}) and the dual city winner Elite Icon (Nicconi).

A daughter of the four-time Group 2 winner Ateates (Zeditave) whose full sister Ruffles was named Champion Older Female Sprinter - Elite Ateates was served last spring by Kermadec (NZ) after foaling a filly by Blue Point (Ire).

Looking Back

No luck for our Saturday selections, although not disgraced. Marais (Capitalist) ran a bold second in Race 3 at Gosford. While Gatsby's (Snitzel) was 2.6l away for a fourth-placing in the Pago Pago S. at Rosehill. Comanche Miss (Castelvecchio) also ran into fourth in the Listed Redoute's Choice S. at Caulfield
