Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having an early start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Three exciting runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Wednesday, including a well-bred I Am Invincible filly chasing maiden success on debut after trialling sharply, and nicely related Russian Revolution and Impending runners looking to cap off some consistent from with maiden success.

Togetherforever, 4-year-old mare (Impending x Lovemelikearock {Fastnet Rock})
The well-bred Togetherforever is set to have her fourth start over 1000 metres for Michael Hickmott on the back of three solid placings in her career so far.
Togetherforever is a daughter of Darley Stud’s sire Impending and is the eighth foal from the Fastnet Rock mare Lovemelikearock. She was a talented mare on the track winning three races including the G3 Spring S. and the Listed Angst S. She was also stakes placed in the G3 Sweet Embrace S. and the G2 Furious S.

Lovemelikearock has left two-winners, Fifty Ways (New Approach {Ire}) was successful as a juvenile and Bottom Line (Unencumbered) was a four-time winner. Zoete’s Rock (Impending) has also been stakes placed on the track in Tasmania in the Listed Elwick S., and the Gold Sovereign S.
Togetherforever sold for $70,000 at the 2021 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale with Michael Hickmott Bloodstock being the successful purchaser from the draft of Cornerstone Stud.
Newcastle, Race 2, 2.20pm AEDT, I Am Invincible Easter Yearlings Midway 2YO Mdn H., $45,000, 900m
Rantan, 2-year-old colt (I Am Invincible x Sweet Kiss {Strada})
This well related filly is set to debut at Newcastle over 1100 metres for Randwick trainer Ron Quinton on the back of an impressive trial win at Randwick on March 22 when running over 740 metres.
Rantan is a daughter of Yarraman Park’s Champion sire I Am Invincible and is the fifth foal from the Strada mare Sweet Kiss. She had four wins on the track and was stakes placed prior to forging a very successful broodmare in career in both the sales ring and the track.

Sweet Kiss has left three winners at stud including Gotta Kiss (Not A Single Doubt) who was successful in three races as a juvenile and was also placed in the G1 JJ Atkins P., the G3 Vo Rogue P., and the Listed Mode P.
Infatuation (I Am Invincible) was a two-time winner and placed in the Listed Gosford Guineas and Ring Of Steel (I Am Invincible) was a four-time winner.
On the back of Rantan’s impressive trial performance, she looks like she is ready to add to the family record and kick on to bigger and better things on the track.
Newcastle, Race 4, 3.30pm AEDT, Coastline Pool & Spa Mdn H., $42,000, 1250m
Summer Soiree, 3-year-old filly (Russian Revolution x Hot Summer Night {Fusaichi Pegasus {USA}})
The well-related Summer Soiree (Russian Revolution) is set to have her third start over 1250 metres for Annabel Neasham on the back of a promising run at Wyong on March 20 over 1100 metres when running on strongly from well back in the field. That run showed that the step up in distance may be of assistance to her.
Summer Soiree is the fifth foal from the Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) mare Hot Summer Night. She was only placed on the track but has left a mark as a broodmare leaving the Group 2 winner Summer Sham (Not A Single Doubt) who herself has also left a Listed-winning colt in Schwarz (Zoustar).

Summer Soiree sold for $180,000 at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale with Stilletto Sprinters being the successful purchaser from the draft of Vinery Stud. Her second dam is the Giant’s Causeway (USA) mare Unspoken Choice, she herself is a half-sister to the late Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice and Group 1 winners and stallions Manhattan Rain and Platinum Scissors.
She holds an interesting pedigree pattern duplicating the great mare Shantha’s Choice (Canny Lad), as she is by a grandson of Redoute’s Choice in Russian Revolution and also holds Shantha’s Choice as her own third dam.
Hot Summer Night since producing Summer Soiree has an unraced 2-year-old full brother named Revolt who is trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, and Russian Revolution yearling and weanling full sisters. She was served by the Not A Single Doubt stallion Stronger last spring.
Looking Back
A good day overall with Elegancia (So You Think {NZ}) winning well at Geelong narrowly defeating Sun Gift (Savabeel), that gave our selections a nice quinella. Lady Gimlet (Starcraft {NZ}) battled away to run fourth in her race.
