Lot 26 - Bivouac x Femme Fireball (Pierro) filly, $140,000

Buyer: Bennett Racing

Vendor: Vinery Stud

“She’s a classy filly. A lovely mover with a beautiful loose action, and a great hip and girth on her. She just ticked all our boxes,” said Nathan Bennett.

“The Maher team loved her as well and she’ll go to Ciaron Maher. As an ownership group, we used to follow the dam who was a very good racemare, and we like Bivouac. He was obviously a champion and we think he’ll make it as a sire.

“Pierro looks like he’ll be a good broodmare sire as well, so really ticked all the boxes. Just a lovely filly that we really liked with a bit of residual value too. We can’t wait to get her into our system and go from there.”

By first season sire Bivouac who has been quite popular this yearling sale season with sales up to $675,000, Lot 26 is the second foal of Femme Fireball (Pierro). Her first foal is a 2-year-old filly named Femminile (Dundeel {NZ}) who was purchased at this sale last year from Vinery Stud for $150,000 by Phillip Stokes Racing and Rick Connolly Bloodstock.

Femme Fireball was a tough racemare for trainer Robert Heathcott, winning seven races, including three of her first four starts as a 3-year-old. She also won three in succession when resuming as a 4-year-old, and was placed in the Listed Just Now S.

Femme Fireball is a full sister to dual Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Rock (Pierro), and both are out of a winning Fastnet Rock mare.
