Lot 414 – Exceed and Excel x Allez Bien (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) colt, $240,000
Buyer: Prima Park
Vendor: Newhaven Park Stud
“We bought him to breeze up, and he will probably go to the Inglis 2-year-old sale in October,” said Kelly Van Dyk, managing director of Prima Park.
“He’s a very nice colt. We loved him. He’s very athletic with lots of presence and was sharp. He looks precocious and should be ready to breeze up in September. Obviously he’s by a proven stallion with good pedigree behind him.”
“We were very pleased to be able to purchase him within our budget.”

The colt was sold by Newhaven Park, whose Claire Kelly said, “He was very well found by the buyer.”
“With Exceed and Excel retiring recently, there aren’t many left and he was a very typical Exceed and Excel type. Sometimes horses like him can get a bit lost at a sale like Easter when the very hot horses are grabbing all the attention. Zoustar was obviously hot, and even Trapeze Artist with two timely stakes winners on Saturday sold well.”
“This colt’s half-sister, Miss Drakova, has been knocking on the door for that illusive stakes win over in Perth. As with all our yearlings, he was presented to a high level and we were proud to bring him to the market.”

A half-brother to stakes placed winner Miss Drakova (Capitalist) by Champion Sire Exceed and Excel, Lot 414 is the fourth foal for his dam, and the third by Exceed and Excel.
Miss Drakova placed four times from five starts at two, then broke her maiden as a spring 3-year-old. She ran third in the Listed Burgess Queen S, and has placed twice in the city this autumn.
His dam, Allez Bien, won four races including two in Sydney and is a half-sister to G1 Inspirational Girl (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}) and Listed winner Ruettiger (NZ) (Duporth).
