Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Two exciting runners are set to hit the track on Sunday, including a Per Incanto (USA) two-year-old filly from a top class White Robe Lodge family on debut at Wingatui and an I Am Invincible gelding resuming at Muswellbrook.
Wingatui, Race 4, 10.33am, AEST (12.33pm local), Kade’s Restaurant 2YO SW&P., $35,000, 1100m
Moor (NZ), 2-year-old filly (Per Incanto (USA) x Coulee (NZ) {Gallant Guru})
Moor (NZ), a daughter of Little Avondale’s proven stallion Per Incanto (USA) , will be making her debut for Wingatui trainer’s Brian and Shane Anderton on her home track on Sunday. She is a genuine White Robe Lodge product being bred and raced by B J Anderton ONZM and the Estate of the late L E Anderton.
The well-bred filly is the second foal from the Gallant Guru mare Coulee, who was a ten-time winner from 1200 metres up to 1800 metres including the G3 White Robe Lodge H., and twice winning the South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ S.

Coulee’s dam Cherry Creek (Monashee Mountain) was an eight-time winner including the Listed Canterbury Belle S. She has then proven to be a handy broodmare leaving the stakes-placed Stella Creek (NZ) (Per Incanto) and the winners Flow Along (NZ) (Ghibellines), Cherryville (Ghibellines) and Jubilation (NZ) (Ghibellines).
Coulee since producing Moor has left yearling and weanling fillies by Ancient Spirit (Ger) and was served by Ghibbelines last spring.
Muswellbrook, Race 1, 12.40pm, AEST, Greg Cribb Memorial Red Crown 2YO H., $30,000, 900m
Vinniro, 2-year-old gelding (I Am Invincible x Lady Cartier {Fastnet Rock})
It's a solid form line for this Peter and Paul Snowden trained gelding who at his first start ran fourth behind the stakes-placed Spywire (Trapeze Artist) and Canara (I Am Invincible). At his second start he ran fifth behind Storm Boy (Justify {USA}) and Traffic Warden (Street Boss {USA}) and Canara (I Am Invincible) which even though he was beaten a fair way, it is a strong formline. This preparation he has trialled up well and won his most recent trial at Rosehill impressively on May 16 over 1045 metres.

Capri Racing and Syndications were the purchasers for $155,000 at last year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Tyreel Stud. Vinniro is by I Am Invincible out of Lady Cartier (Fastnet Rock) who is a three-quarter-sister to the three-time Group 1 winner Shoals (Fastnet Rock) and the Listed winning gelding Groundswell (Fastnet Rock). She is also a half-sister to the talented gelding Rustic Steel (Deep Field) who has been successful nine-times including the G3 Newcastle Newmarket H., and the Listed Scone Cup.
Other classy performers that feature in this pedigree are the stallions Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain, Echoes Of Heaven and Platinum Scissors.
Looking Back
Earth God (Written Tycoon) ran an okay third in Race 1 at Caulfield, he battled on well .
Omnic (NZ) (Proisir) - was disappointing running seventh in Race 2 at Rosehill, he looked like he didn't enjoy the wet track conditions.
Belardi (NZ) (Belardo (Ire) handled the heavy track well and was impressive leading all of the way in the Listed Castletown Stakes at Wanganui.
