Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
The Sunshine Coast’s meeting opens with a juvenile event and 2-year-old filly Creativity Miss (Written Tycoon) who is related to Hong Kong's Galaxy Patch will make her debut. At Grafton, Cool Storm, a nicely related Toronado (Ire) filly has her third start after being a winner on debut.

Creativity Miss, 2-year-old filly (Written Tycoon x Creativity, by Master Of Design)
With half the field on debut, the form in this race is tricky, however, Creativity Miss comes with a well-credential pedigree. Trained by Stuart Kendrick, who also has Hot Torque Invegas (Too Darn Hot {GB}) in the same race, Creativity Miss will be ridden by apprentice Cody Collis.
Written Tycoon is the sire of 63 stakes winners including 15 at Group 1 level including this season's G1 Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot, G1 Australian Guineas winner Southport Tycoon, and New Zealand juvenile Group 1 winner Velocious.

A Listed placed city winner Creativity is a half-sister to Hong Kong’s recent dual Group 3 winner Galaxy Patch (Wandjina) and to stakes placed winner Comearoundsundown (Not a Single Doubt).

Cool Storm, 3-year-old filly (Toronado (Ire) x Refit, by Encosta de Lago)
A winner on debut in December over 800 metres, Cool Storm resumed at the end of June with a third at Newcastle over 900 metres and steps down a little in class and up in distance here. Trained by Brett Dodson, she will be ridden by Matthew Bennett from gate 8.
Purchased by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) and Coolarest Farm from Supreme Thoroughbreds at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale for $40,000, Cool Storm’s sire Toronado stood at $27,500 (inc GST) in the year of her conception and now his results have seen him rocket up in fee so he will stand at Swettenham Stud in 2024 for $88,000 (inc GST).
