Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
A nicely bred Too Darn Hot filly who went under the radar at the sales makes her debut at Grafton, while at Pakenham a full sister to The Intimidator (Toronado {Ire}) makes her debut.

Burnt Fingers, 2-year-old filly (Too Darn Hot {GB} x Boracay, by Red Ransom {USA})
On debut for trainer Paul Murray, Burnt Fingers (Too Darn Hot {GB}) was a steal by ART Racing at the Inglis Melbourne Gold Yearling Sale from Yarran Thoroughbreds for $35,000 and since then her sire has lived up to his name becoming hot property. So hot in fact that he’s not shuttling this year, thanks to Group 1 winners Broadsiding in his first Australian crop and Fallen Angel in his first European crop.

She is a full sister to 4-year-old gelding The Intimidator who won the Listed Mufhasa Stakes in New Zealand as an autumn 3-year-old before being sold to Hong Kong where he’s been renamed I Am The Boss. As The Intimidator, he was second on debut as an early 3-year-old before winning two in succession and placing in the G3 Bonecrusher S. and Listed Uncle Remus S.
Toronado (Ire) | Standing at Swettenham Stud
Dashonardo wasn't offered at auction, but The Intimidator was a NZ$160,000 sale by Inglewood Stud at the NZB National Yearling Sale.
By Toronado, who has had a strong season with G1 Doomben Cup winner Bois d’Argent and Hong Kong’s Victor The Winner, Dashonardo will be ridden by Zac Spain.
Dashonardo’s dam, Ty Dash, won twice and is a full sister to G3 Typhoon Tracy S. winner Written Dash (Written Tycoon) who has produced two stakes placed winners to date; Osamu (Exceed And Excel) and Written In Code (I Am Invincible). This is the family of Group 1 winner Sizzling (Snitzel), as well as stakes winners Bonaparte (Pierro), and Diamonds (Rich Enuff).
