Looking Ahead - August 4

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Three exciting three-year-old runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Sunday, including Pierata and Zoustar fillies battling it out at Wyong and a Written Tycoon filly that has looked very sharp at the trials debuting on the Sunshine Coast.

Creativity Miss, 3-year-old filly (Written Tycoon x Creativity (Master Of Design)

The Stuart Kendrick-trained Written Tycoon filly Creativity Miss will be making her debut at Sunshine Coast on Sunday over 1200 metres. She has trialled up four-times in preparation for her debut and has won three of them very impressively.

This filly is the second foal out of the Master Of Design mare Creativity, who was a four-time winner and also managed to be Listed placed. She is a half-sister to Gulinga Spirit-Galaxy Patch (HK) (Wandjina) who is a dual Group 3 winner in Hong Kong and G1 placed in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup.

All Eyes On Her, 3-year-old filly (Zoustar x Sexy Eyes {Written Tycoon})

The Chris Waller-trained Zoustar filly All Eyes On Her will be making her debut at Wyong on Sunday over 1200 metres. She has had four educational trials and looked handy at her last one running a close-up second at Rosehill on July 23 behind the group-placed Chateau Miraval (Zousain) over 900 metres.

This well-bred filly is the second-foal out of the Written Tycoon mare Sexy Eyes, who was a six-time winner from 1100 metres to 1600 metres including the G3 Belle Of The Turf S., and the Listed Weetwood H.

Sexy Eyes has made a great start to her broodmare career with her first foal Northern Eyes (Zoustar) selling for $1,250,000 to Tom Magnier from the draft of Milburn Creek. He has gone on to be a winner and city-placed in New South Wales so far in his racing career.

Since Producing All Eyes On Her, Sexy Eyes has produced a Farnan unamed two-year-old filly that sold for $500,000, a yearling filly by Snitzel and unfortunately missed last spring.

All Eyes On Her was an expensive $1,000,000 purchase by K Yoshida from the draft of Milburn Creek at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

November Air, 3-year-old filly (Pierata x Chickaletta {Redoute’s Choice})

November Air, a daughter of Yulong Stud’s promising young stallion Pierata, will have her second start at Wyong for Warwick Farm’s newly established training partnership of Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald after running fourth on debut at Newcastle on July 13 when she only faded late in the piece after being in a prominent position behind Codetta (Nicconi).

The well-related filly is the third foal from the Redoute’s Choice mare Chickaletta, who was unraced on the track.

She is bred on the same Pierata/Redoute’s Choice cross as the smart juvenile Coleman (Pierata) who this season won the G3 Chairman’s S., and the Listed Debutant S., as well as placing in the G1 Golden Slipper, G3 Pago Pago S., and the G1 Sire’s Produce S.

The extended Lonhro/Redoute’s Choice cross has also had great proven success with a 78 per cent winners to runners ratio and a solid 10 per cent stakes winners to runners ratio. Some of the stakes-winning gallopers on the track with this cross includes the Group 1 winner Kementari, Messene, Wawail, Souchez, Generalife and Mirra Vision.

Chickaletta is well-related being a half-sister to Oak Door (Commands) who was successful six times including in the G2 Autumn S., and the G3 Sir John Monash S., and her dam is the five-time winning mare, Beyonce’s Star (Orientate {USA}) who was successful in the Listed Just Now H., and later produced five individual winners from five to race.

Chickaletta since producing November Air, has left a yearling colt by Star Turn, a weanling colt by Pierata and was most recently served last spring by Pride Of Dubai.

November Air was a $220,000 purchase by Justin Fung/Aquis Stallions/Kacy Fogden Racing from the draft of Raheen Stud at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
