However, while there may be fewer foals, data suggests race fields and wagering aren’t suffering, with stable field sizes and a record number of individual runners in the 2022/23 season. The real challenge lies not in the number of horses available, but in finding enough owners to sustain the industry.

Tuesday marks new territory for Magic Millions as the auction house hosts its first virtual sale featuring multiple lots. The Magic Millions August Virtual Sale has compiled a catalogue of 48 lots, headlined by the Group 1-winning mare Marabi (I Am Invincible) in foal to Zoustar. Also on offer are mares in foal to Frankel (GB) and Too Darn Hot (GB), alongside several stakes-winning mares.
